$3000/Week ’20th Century Women’ Feature Film Casting Call for Lead Roles

Nationwide talent search ’20th Century Women’ for teen actors.

Megan Ellison’s Annapurna Pictures will produce late 1970s drama “20th Century Women” with “Beginners” director Mike Mills on board to direct from his own script.

Ellison will produce alongside Anne Carey of Archer Gray and Youree Henley. The film will begin production later this year in Southern California.

“20th Century Women” is centered on three very different women teaching a boy what men are, what women are, and about love and freedom in Santa Barbara 1979. When the boy’s mother takes in a male border, his world view is further shaken.

“The film is an ode to the women who raised me; my mom, my sisters, the girls I was in love with or looked up to at school and in the punk rock scene where I really learned about the world,” Mills said.

Mills made his feature-film directorial debut with 2005’s “Thumbsucker,” which he adapted from a novel of the same name by Walter Kirn. In 2010, Mills wrote and directed “Beginners,” starring Ewan McGregor, Christopher Plummer and Melanie Laurent.

CASTING TEEN BOYS WHO LOOK 15 YEARS OLD
LEAD ROLE IN FEATURE FILM ALONGSIDE ANNETTE BENING

We are casting NATIONWIDE for TEEN BOYS WHO LOOK 15 YEARD OLD for a LEADING ROLE in a dramatic feature film starring Annette Bening, written and directed by Mike Mills.

We are auditioning BOTH experienced actors as well as guys interested in trying acting for the first time.

Open to both union and non-union talent.

MALE LEAD DESCRIPTION:

JAMIE: Male, 15 years old, Caucasian. Slim build, more of a skater than a jock. Light-complexioned. Looks like a kid who hangs out at a skate park or punk venue. Looks at home in the late 70s.

It’s 1979. Jamie’s mother has been raising him without the father for many years. Divorce has forced Jamie to grow up fast, emotionally and intellectually; he’s used to acting like an adult, he’s been trying to do that since he was 5 years old. He’s not a “nerd”, and he’s not “strange”. He has a good heart, he’s very likable and sincere, he really wants to understand all the women that are around him. Punk music and the freedom in skate culture are a real way out of suburban life for him. This performance will be humorous and dramatic, the humor coming from real emotional situations.

Again, we are excited to audition boys who are new to acting but have the right vibe. Also, open to union or non-union actors as well!

Project: Feature Film
Shoot: Approximately six weeks in September and October, 2015.
