After the successful relaunch of the Hellraiser franchise by director David Bruckner in 2022, talks for a potential sequel have come to light. During an interview with ComicBook.com, producer Keith Levine hinted at high chances of a follow-up to the horror film, which fans have been eagerly anticipating since the reboot.

David Bruckner’s Role in Reviving Classics

Bruckner, renowned for his initial efforts to revive the Friday the 13th franchise, succeeded in resuscitating the Hellraiser series. It was released on the popular streaming platform Hulu in October 2022. The film was well-received, rekindling hopes for further installments in the time-tested franchise.

Keith Levine Confirms Sequel Discussions

Levine, currently engaged in promoting The First Omen, a prequel to the 1976 classic The Omen, confirmed that the conversation about a Hellraiser sequel is ongoing.

“We are trying to do a follow-up and there have been conversations about it,” Levine said. However, he was cautious not to disclose much about these discussions. Levine did ensure that Bruckner is involved in the talks.

What the Future Could Hold

The team learned immensely from their reboot of the Hellraiser world, with special emphasis on the Cenobite design. Levine believes this experience will make the sequel even more spectacular.

“We love that all that knowledge is sort of banked,” explains Levine. “I think moving forward and going into another movie is going to be even crazier and even more awesome.”

Hellraiser’s Successful Reboot

Hellraiser’s reboot was based on Clive Barker’s novella, The Hellbound Heart. The story revolved around a young woman battling addiction who stumbles upon an ancient puzzle box. Unaware of its purpose to summon the Cenobites, sadistic supernatural beings from another dimension, she gets ensnared in a bone-chilling journey.

The film featured Odessa A’zion, Goran Visnjic, Adam Faison, and a host of others, with Jamie Clayton taking on the iconic role of Pinhead. The reboot was a Hulu Original, in association with Spyglass Media Group.

David S. Goyer, one of the producers, created the story for the reboot while the screenplay was written by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski (Super Dark Times). While fans eagerly anticipate news about the sequel, Bruckner is presently occupied with a remake of another classic horror film, The Blob.

Please let us know in the comments below if you would be interested in seeing a sequel to the Hellraiser reboot.

As we await confirmation and more details on the sequel, it’s safe to say that the discussions confirm interest in reviving the franchise for future installments. The team’s enthusiasm and the positive response received for the reboot indicates promising potential for the Hellraiser series moving forward.
