The film will be DiCaprio&#146;s follow-up to the critically acclaimed&nbsp;Martin Scorsese&nbsp;comedy&nbsp;<a style="color: #0a78ff;" title="More from the Guardian on The Wolf Of Wall Street" href="http://www.theguardian.com/film/the-wolf-of-wall-street">The Wolf of Wall Street</a>.
THE REVENANT&nbsp;is&nbsp;an adaptation of the&nbsp;Michael Punke&nbsp;novel&nbsp;The Revenant: A Novel of Revenge, is&nbsp;the story of a 19th century fur trapper,&nbsp;Hugh Glass, who gets mauled by a grizzly bear. Near death, the terrain makes it impossible for his colleagues to carry him back to their fort. They leave him for dead but he survives and sets out on a treacherous journey to exact revenge on those who betrayed him and left him for dead. Casting directors held an <a href="https://www.projectcasting.com/casting-calls-and-auditions/the-revenant-starring-leonardo-dicaprio-open-casting-call/" target="_blank">open casting call</a> in Santa Fe, New Mexico last month. Now producers are casting talent in British Columbia and Alberta, Canada.&nbsp;Classic Casting will&nbsp;<a href="http://www.calgarysun.com/2014/08/02/background-actors-sought-for-the-revenant-calgary-casting-call-aug-9-at-marlborough-mall">hold an open casting call</a>&nbsp;for extras on Aug. 9 near the food court at Marlborough Mall, in Calgary, Alberta from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
According to the casting call notice,&nbsp;&nbsp;white men who &#147;need to have good character looks, and need to have some facial hair&#148; to portray trappers.&nbsp;Also sought are adult Native men and women, slim with long hair. Horse-riding experience would also be beneficial. Classic is also looking for boys between 10 and 18 years old, with long hair.&nbsp;In addition,&nbsp;amputees and people with scars and unusual, interesting characteristics are being sought.

Another casting call for The Revenant is set for January, and this time they are looking for aboriginal extras between the ages of 16 to 60 in Calgary, Alberta.

The Revenant, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, &#147;centers on the 1820s&#146; story of a frontiersman, Hugh Glass, who set out on a path of vengeance against those who left him for dead after a bear mauling.&#148; Tom Hardy and Will Poulter also star.

The movie&#146;s <a href="http://lethbridgeherald.com/news/local-news/2014/12/21/casting-call-for-native-extras/">next casting call</a> will be held at the Lethbridge Lodge, 320 Scenic Drive South, Lethbridge, AB, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Jan. 10, 2015.

The movie is expected to shoot from Jan. 20 to mid-April in the Calgary area.

The <a href="http://www.nmfilm.com/Bulletin_Board.aspx?6206f4b42bad407d853727a77ab67761blogPostId=1440ddf279a9473fa767c37bd73fd656#BlogContent" target="_blank">New Mexico Film Commission</a> posted a casting call stating casting directors are currently seeking Native American teens ages 12 to 18, Native American Men that look weathered and rugged, Native American women that look like female warriors.

No acting experience is necessary. All actors will have a meeting with the Casting Director Rene Haynes. Transportation and lodging will be provided for those that are selected and all roles are paid according to SAG/AFTRA (Union) rates.
