[&#8230;] New ‘Matrix’ Movie Starring Michael B. Jordan To Film in Chicago [&#8230;]

<h2>A new "<a href="https://www.projectcasting.com/tag/the-matrix/">Matrix</a>" movie is coming soon with the Wachowskis to direct and <a href="https://www.projectcasting.com/tag/michael-b-jordan/">Michael B. Jordan</a> to star.</h2>
Chad Stahelski told Yahoo Movies that the Wachowskis will be returning to direct the new "Matrix" film. He told the news outlet:

“I’m super happy that the Wachowskis are not just doing a Matrix, but they’re expanding what we all loved. And if it’s anywhere near the level of what they’ve already done, it wouldn’t take more than a call to go, ‘Hey, we want you to be a stunt guy’ and I would probably go and get hit by a car.”

That said, Slashfilm has since reported the comment is inaccurate and was taken out of context. But, according to Discussing Film, a new "Matrix" film is coming soon at Warner Bros. with the Wachowskis set to return to direct the project.

The Hollywood Reporter reports, Zak Penn will write the screenplay and Michael B. Jordan will star. Wachowskis will direct the project and production will start in early 2020 in Chicago, Illinois. They have reportedly started secretly preparing the film under the working title "Project Ice Cream." Plot details are currently a secret however the project is already beginning to hire crew members. Hugh Bateup, who was an art director on the 1999 "The Matrix" is set to return to the franchise as the production designer for the film.

Micahel B. Jordan's Outlier Society Productions and Warner Bros will produce the project and at this time is unknown whether if it will be a sequel or a reboot.

<a href="https://thegww.com/rumor-lana-wachowski-to-direct-matrix-movie-starring-michael-b-jordan/">The GWW</a> has also reported that the film will shoot in Chicago under the name ‘Project Ice Cream’ with Lana Wachowski set to be one of the directors.

<h2><a href="https://www.projectcasting.com/blog/tag/will-smith/">Will Smith</a> was worried about the future of his career and did not want to get typecast as the sci-fi guy.</h2>
Will Smith was nearly Neo in the “The Matrix”. This was a Hollywood legend that went unexplained for years. Smith recently went on the record to clear up why he chose not to star in “The Matrix” and it basically centered around being typecast.
What is great about the video is how candid Smith is with his acting process. He was trying to work on bigger and bigger projects so he had to be selective about what movies he would work on next. In fact, it took a call from Steven Spielberg to get him in “Men in Black”. By the time “The Matrix” hit theaters, he was appearing in major feature films and he probably thought “Wild Wild West” would have been a hit movie. Unfortunately, it was not.

But then people could see around you 360 while you’re jumping, while you’ve stopped jumping. And then, we’re gonna invent these cameras, and then people can see the whole jump while you’re stopping in the middle of the jump."

You can not blame Smith for passing on ”The Matrix.” Pitching a project is an important part of the filmmaking process and it is what convinces movie stars and producers to do the project and if you do not have a major name producing the movie to back you up, you have to work on clearly communicating your idea so others are interested.
Will Smith is now in <a href="https://www.projectcasting.com/blog/tag/atlanta/">Atlanta</a>, Georgia working on the sequel to "Bad Boys", titled "<a href="https://www.projectcasting.com/tag/bad-boys-3/">Bad Boys For Life". </a>

Why Will Smith Turned Down "The Matrix" (VIDEO)

There have a been a ton of reboots in the past couple years, from&nbsp;The Lion King&nbsp;to&nbsp;Beauty and the Beast&nbsp;to&nbsp;It.&nbsp;Now, another hit movie is getting the reboot treatment.

According to the&nbsp;Hollywood Reporter,&nbsp;Warner Bros. "is in the early stages" of bringing a reboot to&nbsp;The Matrix.&nbsp;The Hollywood Reporter&nbsp;also points out that Michael B. Jordan may replace Keanu Reeves as Neo. But, the Wachowskis, who wrote and directed the original movie will have nothing to do with the project. In fact,&nbsp;X-Men: The Last Stand&nbsp;author Zak Penn is currently "in talks," according to&nbsp;The Hollywood Reporter.

Also, first movie producer Joel&nbsp;Silver is reportedly unlikely going to have a role in the production. Silver, who sold the rights to several movies including the&nbsp;Matrix, Lethal Weapon,&nbsp;and&nbsp;Sherlock Holmes,&nbsp;sold the franchise rights to the&nbsp;Matrix&nbsp;for $30 million in 2012.

The Matrix was the 1999 surprise box office hit movie about a computer programmer (Reeves) who rises to become humanity's last hope. It became the biggest moneymaker of 1999 among R-rated films and spawned two popular sequels.

<h2>Nicolas Cage says he was offered a role in The Lord of the Rings and The Matrix but had to turn it down.</h2>
Nicolas Cage seems like he has a very unique process when it comes to deciding which movies he's going to star in. He has plenty of classics such as Face/Off and National Treasure but, every so often there's a major disaster such as Left Behind or Season of the Witch which makes us question his acting process. But what if Cage went through with his alleged offer to be in The Matrix? Better yet, what if Nicolas Cage played Strider/Aragorn in The Lord Of The Rings trilogy? Both nearly happened.

In a recent interview with Newsweek, Nicolas Cage revealed that he had offers on the table to star in both Peter Jackson's adaptation of The Lord of the Rings and The Matrix. The problem was he was forced to turn them down, likely changing movie history and probably making Nicolas Cage's biggest regrets of all time.
<blockquote>I don’t really have any regrets. I think regret is a waste of time. I try to always move forward as opposed to dwelling on the past or the movies that might have happened. There certainly were movies that I probably would have benefited from if circumstances in my life allowed me to make them…

Lord of the Rings. That trilogy. Aragorn. Or The Matrix. But the thing is about those movies, I can watch them. I can enjoy them as an audience member. I don’t really watch my own movies. And so I genuinely do have the joy of watching these—especially with Lord of the Rings.</blockquote>

Viggo Mortensen made the role of Aragon unique, but having Nic Cage play him may have transformed the movie completely. Motivational speeches, Nicolas Cage action figures, and possible a Nic Cage Lord of the Rings spin-off. But, the actor revealed he had a good reason for turning it down:
<blockquote>Were you offered a role in that?
Yeah…. There were different things going on in my life at the time that precluded me from being able to travel and be away from home for three years. And I do mean it. I get to enjoy the movies as an audience member, because I don’t watch my own movies.</blockquote>
I think the major thing to take away from this story is that Nic Cage does not watch his own movies. But, he's not alone. Plenty of actors don't watch their own movies. But, it does demonstrate how movies take on a completely different meaning when you are in front of the camera then when you are watching it from the comfort of your living room.

Nic Cage: I Was Offered a Role in 'The Matrix' But I Had to Turn It Down

I am not a grammar Nazi. In fact, I am usually a tnuc to grammar/spelling nazis... but that was really hard to read. Really really hard.  This is why newspapers have editors.

<h2>Will Smith has a history of making bad acting&nbsp;decisions but, did he finally make the right one?</h2>
The casting of <a href="https://www.projectcasting.com/blog/tag/will-smith/" target="_blank">Will Smith</a> as Deadshot in the upcoming "<a href="https://www.projectcasting.com/tag/suicide-squad/" target="_blank">Suicide Squad</a>" movie is loaded with controversy for several reasons.

Will Smith is one of only a handful of actors that have the opportunity to pick and choose which movies they want to star in. Several years ago, Will Smith had the opportunity to play the lead character in Quentin Tarantino's 'Django Unchained" but, Smith later turned down the role because he wouldn't be "the lead". So for the actor accept the part in an ensemble movie is quite odd for the A-List actor.

Also, the casting decision is controversial because many people feel that Will Smith's acting to his skin color make him a bad fit for the character.

But, it is interesting to point out that 15 years ago, Will Smith had an opportunity of a lifetime and he later turned it down. The decision he later regretted and said it was the biggest mistake in his acting career.

When "The Matrix" was still only a script, Will Smith urned down an offer to be Neo in the movies. Smith says he turned down the role because, as he said in an interview with "Wired":
<blockquote>You know, The Matrix is a difficult concept to pitch. In the pitch, I just didn't see it. I watched Keanu's performance - and very rarely do I say this - but I would have messed it up. I would have absolutely messed up The Matrix. At that point I wasn't smart enough as an actor to let the movie be. Whereas Keanu was smart enough to just let it be. Let the movie and the director tell the story, and don't try and perform every moment.</blockquote>
The Matrix went on and impacted Hollywood movies for at least a decade. At the apex of his career, Will Smith could have been a part of one of the biggest box office hits in recent years.

But, that is not the first time Will Smith turned down a major role. Will Smith was offered the role of The Man of Steel in 2006's "Superman Returns". But, because of Will Smith's choice to work on the box office bomb, Wild Wild West, the actor said no.

Smith famously told MTV in 2008 : "The script came, and I was like, &#145;There is no way I&#146;m playing Superman!&#146; Because I had already done Jim West [of 'Wild Wild West'], and you can&#146;t be messing up white people&#146;s heroes in Hollywood!&#148;

Laughing, the king of the 4th of July weekend added, &#147;You mess up white people&#146;s heroes in Hollywood, you&#146;ll never work in this town again!&#148;

If you can't recall, 'The Matrix' centers on a computer hacker who learns from mysterious rebels about the true nature of his reality and his role in the war against its controllers.

Even though the movie was made fifteen years ago, it still has some the best action sequences in cinema history. They were one of the first movies to really capture slow-motion filmmaking and apply it to daring gun shootouts.

It is also interesting to note that Will Smith was chosen as the lead actor for the movie but, later declined to film 'Wild Wild West'. Something that Smith later commented as one of the biggest mistakes in his career.

'The Matrix' Behind The Scenes Look into the Shooting Scenes [VIDEO]

<h2>The Matrix became an instant cult classic. Millions of people stood in lines to watch a world where everything is a program.</h2>
But, Warner Brothers has stopped promoting the series after three movies and several animations. Now the Wachowskis look like they are going back to the Matrix with a prequel to the series.

According to <a href="http://widget.uproxx.com/b/24/http://latino-review.com/2014/02/exclusive-que-que-que-new-matrix-trilogy-horizon/" target="_blank">Latino Review</a>, the Wachowski's have started the writing process with early outlines to turn into the Warner Bros. studio. And most likely, the movie will be made to compete against Star Wars and Avatar.

Fans of the series may recall that there were many "ONES", who basically rebooted the system and kept the machines working and the human race in line. So essentially, it is quite possible for the Wachowski's to re-do the same movie over again with a new "NEO" and it will still make sense.

Previously, Will Smith was set to be the lead actor in "The Matrix" series but, later declined the offer. He later said it was one of his biggest mistakes in his career. With a possible Matrix prequel on the way, he may have a second chance.

'The Matrix' is Being Made into a Prequel Trilogy

<h2 class="p1">‘<a href="https://www.projectcasting.com/tag/the-matrix/">The Matrix</a>’ co-director Lilly Wachowski is giving fans details on what the movie is really about. Essentially, it centers around transformation and being transgender.</h2>
“That was the original intention. But the world wasn’t quite ready,” says Lilly Wachowski, who revealed her transgender status with her sister and ‘Matrix’ co-director after the movie hit theaters.
Wachowski broke the news in a Netflix video earlier this week confirming fans’ suspicions. “I’m glad that it has gotten out,” she said.
The first ‘Matrix’ movie came out in 1999. “The corporate world wasn’t ready,” said Lilly but, she confirmed that many transgender people understood the movie and thanked the director.
She points out Switch, a character in the first movie, as an example of the film’s intention to be about transgender. In the original script, the character changes genders upon entering the Matrix, where he is a male in the “real” world and a female in The Matrix. Warner Bros. decided to cut the scene from the movie and decided on just one gender in the original movie.
Wachowski said she always like science fiction to explain what she was feeling. “We were existing in a space where the words didn’t exist, so we were always living in a world of imagination.”.

 According to reports, the actor explained his return for the role of Neo is because of director Lana Wachowski’s script for the upcoming feature film. “Lana Wachowski wrote a beautiful script and a wonderful story that resonated with me.” Going on to say, “That’s the only reason to do it. To work with her again is just amazing. It’s been really special, and the story has, I think, some meaningful things to say, and that we can take some nourishment from.”
17 years following the release of the last ‘Matrix’ movie, the Wachowski, Reeves and co-star Carrie-Anne Moss will return for the upcoming release to the iconic sci-fi franchise. 
Carrie-Anne Moss noted her surprise about the upcoming sequel. “I never thought that it would happen, it was never on my radar at all.” Revealing how she shares the same excitement as fans, “When it was brought to me in the way that it was brought to me, with incredible depth and all of the integrity and artistry that you could imagine, I was like, ‘This is a gift.’ It was just very exciting.”

Chad Stahelski worked as a stunt coordinator for several Wachowski productions including the Matrix trilogy. Stahelski mentioned the Wachowskis were working on a new Matrix movie. He would later retract his statement but, in August 2019, Warner Bros. Pictures officially announced the development of a fourth movie. 
The ‘Matrix 4’ movie will have Lana Wachowski serving as co-writer, director, and producer on it. Lana will write the screenplay with David Mitchell and Aleksander Hemon, both of whom she worked within the Netflix series Sense8. 
Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss were announced to be reprising their roles from the previous films, and in October 2019, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II was also cast in a lead role.
The movie is set to begin filming in Chicago in February 2020.

According to <a href="https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10838180/fullcredits?ref_=tt_cl_sm#cast">IMDB</a>, the movie’s casting is done by <a href="https://twitter.com/carmencubacasts?lang=en">Carmen Cuba</a>, who previously worked as a casting director on ‘Stranger Things’. 
In a recent interview, Carmen Cuba shared tips for aspiring actors.  She says,  “I find that most kids actually have a singularity to them that isn’t actually represented in kid casting. I think that traditionally kids who look a particular way—cute’ and ‘all-American’ are typical words used to describe what I mean—are encouraged to pursue acting and modeling and it results in a somewhat homogeneous representation of what a kid looks like. We definitely did not want that. We all remembered our childhood selves and wanted to replicate the awkward transitional beauty we experienced.”

Extras Casting Calls

'Matrix 4' is now casting <a href="https://sfist.com/2020/01/24/matrix-4-shoot-appears-to-need-extras-in-sf/">extras</a> for scenes filming this February in San Francisco, California. Casting directors are looking for extras and notices to work on scenes for three weeks in the financial district of San Francisco.

Details about he shoots are coming thanks to the SF Film Commission notices to neighbors around the financial district. A new casting notice has gone out seeking men and women over the age of 18 who have authorization to work in the United States.

Filming will begin Sunday, February 9th and will end on Sunday, March 1st. Most of the work being done between Wednesday and Sunday each week, and filming concentrated between the hours of 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.

Dwyer Casting is looking for men and women ages 18 and older for background work in the upcoming feature film "Project Ice Cream."

Filming is in San Francisco, California this February through early March 2020.

Payment is $124.72 for 8 hours

Must be available to work a full day (12 hours or longer per day)

Must be legal to work in the United States. Must bring a valid photo i.d. and social security card, or passport with you to set.

After releasing casting calls for the new 'Matrix' movie, set footage shows the iconic character alongside Trinity.

The footage features Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss filming a motorcycle scene in San Francisco, California. Moss can be seen driving the motorcycle with Keanu riding in the back. Director Lana Wachowski is filming the duo on a crane set up. While the information about the plot of the movie have not been released, we do know that the long-haired look for Neo is set to be featured throughout the movie and Trinity will be returning despite meeting her end in 'The Matrix Revolutions'.

'The Matrix 4' Open Casting Calls, Auditions & More (UPDATE)

<h2><a href="https://www.projectcasting.com/tag/keanu-reeves/">Keanu Reeves</a> is going to have one hell of a box office weekend.</h2>
Warner Bros. Pictures has confirmed that '<a href="https://www.projectcasting.com/tag/the-matrix-4/">The Matrix</a>' will hit theaters on May 20, 2021, premiering against the newest sequel in the Lionsgate franchise, '<a href="https://www.projectcasting.com/tag/john-wick/">John Wick 4</a>'.

While details for 'The Matrix 4' are still unknown, the movie will see the return of Reeves as Neo, along with the original director Lana Wachowski. Reeves additional castmates will include Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jessica Henwick, Neil Patrick Harris, Mindhunter‘s Jonathan Groff and possibly Jada Pinkett-Smith as Niobe.

The success of the 'John Wick' franchise has paved the way for another movie. Less than two weeks after the premiere of 'John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum', Lionsgate announced a sequel. John Wick 3 beat 'Avengers: Endgame at the box office and opened with a jaw-dropping $56.8 million, generating more than all of the previous John Wick movies.

Before the release of these two iconic movies, Reeves will reprise his iconic role as  <a href="https://www.projectcasting.com/blog/news/a-bill-and-ted-3-sequel-is-coming-soon/">Theodore “Ted” Logan in Bill &amp; Ted Face the Music</a>, the third installment in the popular ’90s Bill &amp; Ted franchise. <h2 class="p1">“<a href="https://www.projectcasting.com/tag/the-matrix/">The Matrix</a>” is back and returning to theaters with a fourth film in the franchise.</h2>
Warner Bros. has greenlit the movies, the company’s chairman Toby Emmerich announced on Tuesday. The movie will star Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss as Neo and Trinity, with Lana Wachowski, set to write and direct the film.
Wachowski will also produce “Matrix 4” with Grant Hill that Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow Pictures will produce and distribute globally. She is writing the screenplay for “The Matrix 4” with Aleksander Hemon and David Mitchell.
“We could not be more excited to be re-entering ‘The Matrix’ with Lana,” Emmerich said in a statement.  “Lana is a true visionary–a singular and original creative filmmaker–and we are thrilled that she is writing, directing, and producing this new chapter in ‘The Matrix’ universe.”
“Many of the ideas Lilly and I explored 20 years ago about our reality are even more relevant now,” Wachowski said in a statement. “I’m very happy to have these characters back in my life and grateful for another chance to work with my brilliant friends.”
“The Matrix” movies center around the story of a part-time hacker played by Keanu Reeves who discovers the reality is a massive computer simulation run by aliens. After awakening from the simulation, he teams up with a group of rebels and fulfills a prophecy that he is The One who will free humanity from the aliens and computer simulation. The original 1999 move was a box office hit and changed pop culture. 
The original “Matrix” film stars Reeves, Moss, Laurence Fishburne, and Hugo Weaving. The movie is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, and AMC Theaters will be holding a special anniversary screening at select locations on August 30th.
