The Biggest Loser says he felt “humiliated” after appearing on the reality show.
The Biggest Loser is a reality show that is expected to motivate overweight and obese regular men and women into a life of fitness. However, one Chicago teacher featured on The Biggest Loser reveals that he was humiliated on the show.
According to a new report by the Chicago Tribune, Roberto and Luis Hernandez were two contestants that felt embarrassed by working on the reality show.
Robert and Luis weighed over 300 and 200 pounds respectively. They won top weight loss honors for their team after a big comeback  due to struggling during the team challenges in the first few episodes.
After working on a particular obstacle to win a prize for the team, Roberto fell four times during the climb while the other team won an eight-pound advantage for their team. According to an interview with the Chicago Tribune, Roberto felt “humiliated”.
“That was a very tough episode. It was very humiliating,” Roberto told the Tribune by phone last week.
The two contestants would later lose more weight to make up for the humiliating loss.
But, despite being humiliated on national TV the contestants find themselves embracing the challenge. “We called ourselves the yo-yo twins,” Roberto Hernandez, who lives in Burbank, told the Tribune by phone last week. “We would try different diets … Within a year, year and a half, we were back to where we were at, and gaining still.”
“The Biggest Loser” airs at 8 p.m. Mondays on NBC.
