Netflix Renews ‘The Witcher’ for Season 5

Netflix has officially announced the renewal of the popular series ‘The Witcher for a fifth season. This exciting news was confirmed by casting director Sophie Holland, known for her work on other projects like ‘The Continental,’ ‘Heads Of State,’ and the highly anticipated Beetlejuice sequel. In an interview with Variety, Holland shared, “We are just about to begin filming season four with Liam Hemsworth, and after a short break, we will jump right into season five.”

As fans eagerly await the upcoming third season of ‘The Witcher,’ which premieres this June, they will also witness Henry Cavill’s final appearance as Geralt of Rivia. Cavill will be passing the torch to Liam Hemsworth for future seasons. Holland replied when asked about Cavill’s departure, “I prefer not to comment on that matter. I would love to, but I won’t.” She continued, “I am genuinely excited to see Liam’s portrayal. He has a devoted fan base. Season four will introduce new characters while also bringing back familiar faces.”

The news of Cavill’s exit and Hemsworth’s replacement came in late 2022, though Cavill did not disclose the reason for his departure. In an Instagram post, Cavill shared, “My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with thrilling adventures and formidable monsters. Unfortunately, I will hang up my medallion and swords after Season 4. In my place, the extraordinary Mr. Liam Hemsworth will take on the role of the White Wolf. Like the greatest literary characters, I pass the torch with respect for the time I spent embodying Geralt and excitement to see Liam’s interpretation of this complex and intriguing character. Liam, my good sir, this character possesses remarkable depth, so enjoy immersing yourself in his world and uncovering what lies beneath.”

Fans can catch ‘The Witcher season three, part one, premiering on June 29, exclusively on Netflix.
