Former Casting Director Arrested for Child Rape

Date:

A former casting director facing child rape charges in Massachusetts for allegedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old in 2010.

A Minnesota man will be returning to Massachusetts to face charges he sexually assaulted a 14-year-old boy in 2010, according to WCVB.

The boy’s mother told WCVB, “It was like watching the survivors of the (Boston) Marathon bombing.” She added, “It felt like a bomb had gone off in our family and that our whole life, everything about our life was different.”

According to reports, Matthew David Feeney, a former casting director, was staying with the woman when, in one encounter, he “stuck his hand on the child’s privates.” Later on that day, Feeney told the teen, “that he wanted to buy the child a phone, and a computer” and “he wanted to give the child a car when he was 16”.

“I felt like somehow I had failed to protect him. But I had no idea that he needed to be protected,” the alleged victim’s mother told reporters.

Little did she know that Feeney was a convicted of abusing several children in the past when he worked as a counselor at a Catholic youth camp. In addition, Feeney wrote in a journal saying he had “sexual interest in young boys.”

Despite those convictions, Feeney worked as a casting director in Minnesota. According to StarTribune, Matthew Feeney was the CEO of Walden Entertainment and worked as a casting director and acting coach. In addition, according to IMDB, Walden Entertainment was the production company behind Harry Putter and the Chamber Pot of Secrets (2009), Fade (2008/II) and Harry Putter and the Sorcerer’s Phone (2007) and the casting company for Profile of a Killer (2012), “Forsythia” (2011) and Health Freaks (2009).

From Star Tribune:

On March 2, the boys’ mom was on her home computer, posting pictures of her kids on Facebook when one son asked her to not post pictures of him “because he did not like people looking at his body,” the complaint states.

When the mother asked why he was so uncomfortable, he broke down crying, saying that Feeney, who was his acting coach, had been touching him inappropriately. Soon, her other son broke down crying and confessed that Feeney had been touching him inappropriately, too. Neither knew the other was being victimized until that moment, the complaint says.

“My son didn’t’ want this to happen to another boy,” the boy’s mother told WCVB. “I don’t know how long Matthew Feeney will serve if he is convicted here but I know that my son will serve a life sentence, so I’m hoping that if there are other victims that they have the courage to come forward.”
