Johnny Depp Responds to Verbal Abuse Accusation from ‘Blow’ Co-star Lola Glaudini

Date:

Hollywood actress, Lola Glaudini, has accused Johnny Depp of verbal misconduct on the set of ‘Blow’, a movie produced two decades ago in 2001. Glaudini’s allegations surfaced in a podcast from January 30 with Powerful Truth Angels. Representatives for Depp have since responded.

Key Takeaways:
– Lola Glaudini accuses Johnny Depp of verbal abuse on the set of the 2001 film ‘Blow’.
– Representatives for Depp have responded, suggesting the recount differs from others’ memories on set.
– Glaudini detailed her account in a podcast interview resurfaced from January 30.
– Depp’s representatives provide a contradictory statement from colleague Sam Sarkar, who worked alongside both actors.
– The actress alleges Depp made a “‘non-apology apology’ later in the day after she says he yelled at her.

Glaudini’s Account of the Incident

Glaudini, known for her roles in ‘The Sopranos’ and ‘Criminal Minds,’ stated she was directed by ‘Blow’ director Ted Demme to “burst out laughing” during one of Depp’s scenes, which incensed the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ actor.

She said, recounting the events, “Johnny Depp, when they say cut, walks over to me, comes up to me, sticks his finger in my face, and supplies a torrent of verbal abuse.” It was her first day on set and her debut in-studio film. Glaudini admitted that the only thing going through her mind at the time was, ‘Don’t cry, don’t cry, don’t cry.’

Johnny Depp’s Representatives Responds

Depp’s representatives countered Glaudini’s allegations by stating that “Johnny always prioritizes good working relationships with cast and crew and this recounting differs greatly from the recollection of other members on set at the time.” They also provided a statement from Sam Sarkar, a sound department colleague, who claimed to have never overheard the exchange Glaudini described.

On-Set Dynamics

Glaudini also shared that, after the incident, she felt isolated on set, claiming, “When we wrapped, I was like a pariah.” Regrettably, Ted Demme, who could have provided insight into the incident as the then-director, passed away in 2002 and could not provide his accounts or clarification.

Glaudini further stated that Depp did make a “non-apology apology” later in the day following the alleged verbal attack. She recalled him saying to her, ‘You know, so earlier I was really in my head and staying in my character, I’m doing this Boston accent, and it’s really messing with me. So I’m a little tense and stuff. So I just wanted to make sure we’re cool and everything?’

The 2001 American biographical crime film ‘Blow,’ portrayed the life of George Jung, a high school football player-turned-drug trafficker. Depp played the lead role with Glaudini cast as a character named Rada. The movie, set in the 1970s, is based on Bruce Porter’s 1993 book, ‘Blow: How a Small Town Boy Made $100 Million with the Medellín Cocaine Cartel and Lost It All’.

For those interested in hearing the full account, Glaudini’s complete Powerful Truth Angels podcast interview is available online. Meanwhile, the industry and fans eagerly await further comments or responses around these allegations.
