‘Dune: Part Two’ Casting News: Florence Pugh to Play Princess Irulan

Date:

‘Dune: Part Two’ is looking for Florence Pugh to play Princess Irulan in the sequel.

Part Two is ramping up production, with sources telling Deadline that Florence Pugh is in talks to join the cast. According to reports, she will play Princess Irulan Corrino, the eldest daughter of Emperor Shaddam Corrino IV. She will join returning cast members including Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, and Josh Brolin as well as director Denis Villeneuve who is returning.

There was no response from Legendary. The film’s production is expected to begin in the fall, with a release date of October 20, 2023.

Despite going day-and-date on HBO Max, the film was able to flourish in theaters with a debut weekend of $41 million, which exceeded forecasts and prompted a speedy green light for a sequel weeks later. The film has earned $400 million worldwide, including $108 million at home. It also received nine Oscar nods, including Best Picture.

Pugh is mostly known for her role as Debra Morgan on the FX series The Americans, which aired from 2013 to 2016 and earned her an Emmy nomination. This year, she appeared in Black Widow, where she played Natasha Romanoff’s younger sister Yelena. In Marvel’s Hawkeye series, she will reprise the character of Yelena.

She’s currently filming Christopher Nolan’s next Oppenheimer, which also stars Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, and Robert Downey Jr., and she wrapped up production on The Wonder for Netflix. She is represented by CAA, Brillstein Entertainment, and Curtis Brown.
