It’s official: Donald Trump is elected president of the United States

Donald Trump has been elected the 45th president of the United States. The Republican won the presidency, only minutes after gaining support in the state of Wisconsin. Donald Trump won the election with 276 electoral votes, while Clinton remained behind at 216. In addition, Republicans have also won control in both House and Senate.

Trump congratulated Hillary Clinton,  saying that she waged “a very very hard-fought campaign.” He also praised her for having “worked very long and very hard” over her political career.

“Now it’s time for America to bind the wounds of division — have to get together,” he said. “To all Republicans and Democrats and independents across this nation, I say it is time for us to come together as one united people.”

Donald Trump added, “I will be president for all Americans, and this is so important to me.”
