Disney Will Focus Less on Marvel Movies and Pivot to the ‘Star Wars’ Franchise

Date:

As Disney looks forward to the triumphant return of its famous ‘Star Wars‘ franchise, it is taking a step back and slowing down Marvel releases.

This move will allow more attention to be given to the beloved series, allowing fans from all around the world an opportunity to enjoy it in all its glory once again.

Bob Iger, Disney’s incredible CEO, is taking the company to new heights with fresh strategies for upcoming Marvel films. With the potential for financial savings looming, Disney CEO Bob Iger’s planned cost-cutting measures will certainly affect Marvel Studios as it reduces its streaming content.

Kevin Feige, the head of Marvel, appears to agree with Bob Iger’s thoughts on this matter as he revealed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, “The pace at which we’re putting out the Disney+ shows will change so they can each get a chance to shine.” Disney is seeking to decrease the frequency at which Marvel content appears on their platforms. Last year, Disney truly outdid itself by releasing seven masterpieces across cinema and television: three movies, four preceding films, and three TV series accompanied by five additional releases in 2021.

Earlier, Disney declared that five Disney+ series would come in 2023, but only Loki and Secret Invasion are definite to arrive in the same year. As Feige elucidated, “I do think one of the powerful aspects of being at Marvel Studios is having these films and shows hit the zeitgeist. But we want Marvel Studios and the MCU projects to really stand out and stand above. So, people will see that as we get further into Phase 5 and 6.” The interviewer inquired if the new rate would require spacing out of their series or mean fewer productions for 2023. Feige replied, “Both, I think.”

This year, Disney is reviving the beloved Star Wars franchise in a great way – taking it back to cinemas worldwide. No wonder this classic franchise has caught their attention! Since Disney+ was released, fans have been flocking to live-action series such as The Mandalorian, Andor, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and The Book of Boba Fett. Disney is expected to announce an exciting new film plan at Star Wars Celebration in April – a huge event you won’t miss! According to an anonymous source close to the situation, The Hollywood Reporter was informed that “Lucasfilm may ramp up, but it will have to abide by the same fiscal discipline as the rest of the company.” We eagerly anticipate the surprises that Disney has in store for 2023.
