5 Things You Should Know about HBO’s ‘True Detective’ Season 2

Date:

Last Sunday had put all of the mystery of the Yellow King to rest. But, what about the next season?

The series was critically acclaimed by both fans and critics. It was one of the most watched HBO original series since ‘Boardwalk Empire’ and many argue the series will land Matthew McConaughey another award.

Well, if you are like me, you cannot wait for the next season to premiere. So, here are 5 things you should know about the second season of HBO’s “True Detective”.

1. Matthew McConaughey will not return.

The show was always planned to be one long story and a new story at the beginning of each season. *Spoiler Alert* With the survival of Rust Cohle and Marty Hart, it is definitely possible that at least one of the actors could return. However, Matthew McConaughey pointed out that he never wanted to stay longer than one season.

2. HBO’s ‘True Detective’ will not film in Louisiana

Nic Pizzolatto, the writer of ‘True Detective’ commented that he plans on leaving his home state for a new season to present “new characters in a new place with authenticity and resonance and an authorial voice consistent with this season. Dominant colors will change. South Louisiana was green and burnished gold.” Pizzolatto continued, “We’re generally concerned with the places that don’t get much press and where you wouldn’t normally set a television show,” Pizzolatto (pictured with McConaughey) said at TCA.

3. Expect the second season to focus on the U.S. Transportation system.

Recently, Pizzolatto sat down with Entertainment Weekly to discuss the finale of the HBO’s ‘True Detective’ and he commented on what to expect in the second season .”I am still fleshing it out. The basic idea: Hard women, bad men, and the secret occult history of the U.S. transportation system. I was well on my way in the writing but there’s been a lot noise and work around the end of the first season that got in the way.” The possibilities are endless.

4. There will be more than one director

“We don’t have any plans to work with one director again,” Pizzolatto told Buzzfeed. “It would be impossible to do this yearly as we need to be able to do post while we’re still filming, like any other show. There’s some great guys I’ve consulted, and we’re all confident we can achieve the same consistency.”

5. HBO’s True Detective should return January 2015.

Way before season 1 came to an end, fans are wondering when will the critically acclaimed show return for a second season. Even though no official announcement has been made, media outlets are speculating a return date of January 2015.

If you can’t get enough of HBO’s ‘True Detective’ here are a few amazing clips from last night’s episodes:
