The Crown season 5: Everything you need to know
Netflix's The Crown returns for its fifth season on November 15, and we could not be more excited. This season will see Princess Diana (played by Elizabeth Debicki) and Margaret Thatcher (Gillian Anderson) join the cast, as the show enters the 1980s. Here's everything you need to know about The Crown season 5.
What to expect from The Crown season 5
The Crown season 5 will see some major changes, as the show enters the 1980s. Olivia Colman will reprise her role as Queen Elizabeth II, while Tobias Menzies, Helena Bonham Carter, Ben Daniels, Josh O'Connor, Erin Doherty, Marion Bailey, Emerald Fennell, Charles Dance, and Andrew Buchan will also return. New cast members include Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana, Gillian Anderson as Margaret Thatcher, and Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip.
The fifth season is set to cover the late 1970s and early 1980s, a period of great upheaval for the royal family. According to series creator Peter Morgan, the new season will focus on Charles and Diana's marriage, which was "the central event of that decade", as well as Thatcher's time as Prime Minister. "We start at a time when the world is destabilising," Morgan told Variety. "Britain is going through tremendous change and there’s great uncertainty."
When asked whether or not the upcoming season would address rumours of an affair between Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles (played by Emerald Fennell), Morgan said that while he couldn't "confirm or deny" what would happen in the new season, he hinted that viewers should expect to see Charles "struggle" with his marriage. "In previous series', I’ve written about how difficult marriage can be," he said. "Marriage isn’t easy for anyone."
How to watch The Crown season 5
All 10 episodes of The Crown season 5 will be released on Netflix on November 15. If you're not already caught up on the first four seasons, you can binge-watch all 40 episodes now on Netflix.

The Trailer For Netflix's The Crown Season 5 Shows The Royal Family Under Immense Pressure.
Netflix has uploaded the trailer for the fifth season of The Crown.
The teaser looks at the brand new ensemble cast consisting of Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth II, Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip, Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret, Dominic West as Prince Charles, and Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana. The British Royal Family includes Claudia Harrison as Princess Anne, Olivia Williams as Camilla Parker Bowles, and Jonny Lee Miller as John Major in the play . Salim Daw will be portraying Mohamed Al Fayed and Khalid Abdalla Dodi Fayed . This dramatization covers the Royal Family's reign during the '90s:
"As Queen Elizabeth II (Imelda Staunton) approaches the 40th anniversary of her accession, she reflects on a reign that has encompassed nine prime ministers, the advent of mass television, and the twilight of the British Empire. Yet new challenges are on the horizon. The collapse of the Soviet Union and the transfer of sovereignty in Hong Kong signals a seismic shift in the international order presenting both obstacles and opportunities. Meanwhile, trouble is brewing closer to home.
Prince Charles (Dominic West) pressures his mother to allow him to divorce Diana (Elizabeth Debicki), presenting a constitutional crisis of the monarchy. Rumors circulate as husband and wife are seen to live increasingly separate lives, and as media scrutiny intensifies, Diana decides to take control of her own narrative, breaking with family protocol to publish a book that undermines public support for Charles and exposes the cracks in the House of Windsor.
Tensions are set to rise further as Mohamed Al Fayed (Salim Daw) arrives on the scene. Driven by his desire for acceptance of the highest order, he harnesses his self-made wealth and power to try and earn him and his son Dodi (Khalid Abdalla) a seat at the royal table."
The new season premieres November 9 on Netflix.
