Acting Tips for Couples

When it comes to commercial acting, couples have a distinct advantage. Not only do they have each other for support, but they also have the built-in chemistry that can make them stand out from the rest of the talent.

That said, there are a few things to remember if you’re hoping to score a gig as a couple. Here are some commercial acting tips for couples:

  1. Don’t be afraid to show off your chemistry. One of the reasons that couples make great commercial actors is because of the natural chemistry that they have. So don’t be afraid to let that shine through on your audition or during your shoot.
  2. Play to your strengths. If one of you is better at comedy and the other is better at drama, use that to your advantage. There’s no need to try and force yourselves into roles that don’t fit.
  3. Be prepared to share the spotlight. Commercial casting directors usually look for couples who can work well together and share the spotlight. So be prepared to take turns in the spotlight, and don’t try to hog it.
  4. Be flexible. When auditioning or shooting as a couple, it’s important to be flexible. Things will inevitably change throughout the process, so being able to roll with the punches is key.
  5. Have fun. Commercial acting is all about having fun. So make sure you and your partner enjoy yourselves throughout the process.
