Netflix Announces Premiere Date for “Dead Boy Detectives”, Neil Gaiman-Inspired Series

Date:

Netflix is opening its doors to welcome new occupants, none other than the ghostly pair from DC Comics – ‘Dead Boy Detectives’. Reports confirmed on Friday that Netflix has set an April 25th premiere date for the Neil Gaiman inspired TV show.

Key Takeaways:

– The Neil Gaiman inspired series ‘Dead Boy Detectives’ is set to premiere on the 25th of April on Netflix.
– Originally planned to air on Max streaming service, the show was later shifted to Netflix as it didn’t fit with the plans of DC executives James Gunn and Peter Safran.
– The cast includes George Rexstrew, Jayden Revri, and Kassius Nelson in the lead roles, with support from notable stars such as Lukas Gage and Briana Cuoco.

Brought to Life on Netflix

Originally slated to air on the Max streaming platform, “Dead Boy Detectives” made a shift last year. The move appears to have been result of the show not aligning with plans of DC executives, James Gunn and Peter Safran for the DC Universe. Now, Netflix has confirmed the show’s homecoming, aligning it with the live-action series of ‘The Sandman’, of which the Dead Boy Detectives are a spin-off.

Star-Studded Cast

The series stars newcomer George Rexstrew and Jayden Revri, best known for his role in ‘The Lodge’, taking on the titular roles. They are joined by Kassius Nelson, acclaimed for her performance in ‘Last Night in Soho’. The supernatural investigation will follow Charles Rowland (Revri), Edwin Paine (Rexstrew) and a psychic medium Crystal Palace (Nelson) across eight one-hour episodes.

In addition to the lead trio, the series boasts a stellar support cast. Lukas Gage, familiar to Euphoria fans, plays Thomas the Cat King, a shape-shifter with questionable intentions. Briana Cuoco from ‘The Flight Attendant’ will be playing Jenny, a mild punk butcher and confidant to Crystal Palace. Yuyu Kitamura features as Niko, a boarding school student eager to join the Dead Boy Detectives agency.

Adding some supernatural elements are Caitlin Reilly and Max Jenkins as tiny foul-mouthed dandelion sprites, Litty and Kingham. Ruth Connell reprises her role from ‘Doom Patrol’ as Night Nurse, a demonic entity controlling the afterlife’s soul flow.

About the Series

Penned by Steve Yockey, the Dead Boy Detectives pilot hinges on two teenage ghost detectives, Edwin Payne (Rexstrew) and Charles Rowland (Revri), who team up to solve paranormal mysteries. Refusing to enter the afterlife, these detectives are ready to tackle witches, hell, and even death itself to stick together.

Crystal (Nelson) and her friend Niko (Kitamura) assist them with her clairvoyance, helping unravel the mortal realm’s inexplicable paranormal cases. Yockey joins Jeremy Carver, Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and David Madden in the executive producer ranks.

Looking Ahead

The anticipation for ‘Dead Boy Detective’ builds as viewers eagerly await the show’s debut, thanks to the unique premise and star-studded ensemble. Mark your calendars for the heroes returning from the afterlife on April 25th, only on Netflix.
