Did the Scarlett Johansson’s movie ‘Lucy’ predict the stock market crash? A new ‘Lucy’ conspiracy has gone viral and says yes!
Stocks tumbled on Monday, sending the Dow Jones down more than 1,000 points in a matter of a few seconds. The stock market recovered some of its losses but it was still a bad day for the market. Today was so bad that many people feared that it was eerily similar to the financial crisis of 2008, which would later turn into a major recession across the world.

Investors around the world are worried about China, the world’s second-largest economic power and a huge market for American products. China devalued its currency two weeks ago and has shown other signs of economic weakness.
Two hours into trading, the Dow was down 454 points, or 2.8 percent, at 16,005. At its worst point, just after the opening bell, the Dow was down an eye-popping 1,089 points, or 6.6 percent.
“Fear has taken over,” Adam Sarhan, CEO of the investment company Sarhan Capital, told CNBC. “The market topped out last week.”
But did the 2014 Scarlett Johansson movie ‘Lucy’ predict this was going to happen?
In the 2014, sci-fi thriller Lucy, Johansson portrays the title character, a woman who gains psychokinetic abilities when a nootropic drug is absorbed into her bloodstream.
The film became a box office success, grossing over $458 million against a budget of $40 million. It received mainly positive reviews with praise for Johansson’s acting performance, entertaining or intriguing themes and visuals, and criticism for having a nonsensical plot, especially its focus on the ten percent of brain myth and resulting abilities.
But, now a photo has gone viral showing that the #BlackMonday stock market crash was predicted.
In a clip from the movie, you can see Scarlett Johansson’s passport reads 24 August 2015 as the date the passport expires – the same date the stock market dropped 1000 points.
While this is probably just a coincidence, this is not the first time a movie predicted a catastrophe or linked to a conspiracy. The hit movie, The Matrix featured a picture of Keanu Reeve’s Neo and the date September 11, 2001. Several years later, America suffered one of the worst terrorist attacks in United States history.
