Judge Denies ‘Midnight Rider’ Director’s Early Release from Jail

Date:

A judge in Georgia has denied Midnight Rider director Randall Miller‘s request to get released from jail early.

Miller was sentenced in March to two years in Wayne County jail after pleading guilty to charges of involuntary manslaughter and criminal trespass stemming from the February 20th train accident on the set of Midnight Rider, which camera assistant Sarah Jones was killed and eight others were injured, according to Deadline.

Through his attorneys, Miller had sought early release citing declining health and good behavior while serving his sentence. His motion was later opposed by prosecutors and Sarah Jones’ family.

Miller may still be eligible for early release after serving one year of his sentence. His attorneys have said that all parties reached a plea agreement with the understanding that the sheriff of Wayne County would apply a “good time credit.”

Miller’s sentence also includes an eight year probation period.
