Disney releases Rogue One: A Star Wars Story movie trailer.

The next movie in the Star Wars universe has just released a new movie trailer. During NBC’s primetime Rio Olympics coverage on Thursday, Disney executives released a new trailer for the upcoming Star Wars: Rogue One feature film.

In case you didn’t know, Rogue One centers around the time period where Darth Vader has disappeared since the events of “Revenge of the Sith.” The movie focuses around a group of rebels who plan to steal and take over the Death Star. The Star Wars spinoff movie features Riz Ahmed, Felicity Jones, and Ben Mendelsohn. Rogue One was written by Chris Weitz and John Knoll.

The trailer starts with the rebel militia member Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) inside the Rebel Alliance’s war room. The rebels make a deal with her. If she gets the Death Star, her criminal record will be cleared. From there we meet the other members of Erso’s team including Cassian Andor, Chirrut Imwe, Saw Gerrera, played by Diego Luna, Donnie Yen and Forest Whitaker, respectively.

This movie trailer comes after the movie reportedly had several major filming new and additional scenes two months ago. Last June, it was revealed that Disney executives were not too happy with the first edited version of the new Rogue One: A Star Wars movie. According to The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline, the movie was “lacking the edge that Force Awakens had,” and was “tonally off with what a ‘classic’ Star Wars movie should feel like.”

How much of an impact those new scenes made on the movie are unknown at the moment. But, you can check out the full movie trailer below.
