Going to the Star Wars Episode VII Open Casting Call? 4 Tips for Audition Success

Date:

You cannot deny the large audience of Star Wars.

By holding an open casting call for the film’s two lead roles, it definitely sure that the producers are giving Star Wars fans, aspiring actors, and simply interested people a chance at an incredible prize.

Anyone who has done a “jedi mind trick” or imitating Yoda voice, attended a Star Wars convention, or has been an original fan since the first Episode of Star wars probably has always wanted to be in a Star Wars film. Ad now they can come closer than ever to achieving that dream.

But, if you are planning to attend one of the Star Wars open casting days, it is best to plan ahead. Even the slightest mistakes could derail your chances forever. However, if you follow the following tips, you should be perfectly fine.

Read the Casting Call

Star Wars is looking for “a street-smart and strong girl in her late teens’ and ‘a smart and capable man in his late teens or early 20s”. Now look in the mirror, if you are in your mid 40’s this is probably not for you.

If you still fit the description, make sure you can accurately display the emotions the casting director is looking for.

Ask more about the characters

You do not want to walk in and blindly accept any role the producers want to give you. Ask questions about the role. Try and work out what kind of character you will be playing. This will give you a better idea of what producers and casting directors are looking for.

Don’t go Fan Crazy – Keep your lightsaber at home

Remember this is a professional casting call filled with real casting directors, producers, and industry professionals. Walking into the audition room as if it was Dragon Con 2013 in full costume gear will most likely get you to the bottom of the list.

Think about the Future

Hayden Christensen was the last young actor picked up for the Star Wars saga. But, his career was not able to take off. Remeber, if you do make it to the final callbacks, plan your career for the long haul.
