Jennifer Lawrence Dislocated a Rib On Set of ‘Mother!’

Jennifer Lawrence dislocated a rib hyperventilating on set.

Darren Aronofsky’s next movie has an all-star cast including Jennifer Lawrence, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Javier Bardem. The new movie Mother! centers around a couple whose lives begin to unravel after unexpected guests show up at their home.

Despite partaking in physically demanding roles such as the character of Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games trilogy, Lawrence explains that she found Mother! as the most challenging role yet.

“I had to go to a darker place than I’ve ever been in my life. I didn’t know if I’d be able to come out ok.”

While a majority of Lawrence’s most famous roles have included a strong physical aspect, her emotionally taxing part in Mother! ended up injuring the actress more than any stunt work. During one particular scene, Lawrence hyperventilated so much that she ended up dislocating a rib, forcing a production to stop while the actress was given oxygen.

Aronofsky made sure to continue filming after Lawrence’s injury.

“I have oxygen tubes in my nostrils, and Darren’s like, ‘It was out of focus; we’ve got to do it again. And I was just like, ‘Go fuck yourself.’”

To overcome the stress of filming, some crew members volunteered and set up a “happy place” where she could recuperate as and when it was necessary. What makes the actress happy? Apparently, watching clips of the Kardashians.
