Donald Glover Did Whatever It Took to FX to Get Them to Produce ‘Atlanta’

Date:

Donald Glover basically lied to get FX to produce Atlanta.

Donald Glover, The award-winning actor/writer/producer, revealed how he tricked FX network in a recent interview with the New Yorker.

“I knew what FX wanted from me. They were thinking it’d be me and Craig Robinson horse-tailing around, and it’ll be kind of like Community, and it’ll be on for a long time. I was Trojan-horsing FX. If I told them what I really wanted to do, it wouldn’t have gotten made.”

Of course, the show has evolved way past what FX originally thought, leading to critical acclaim and multiple awards wins, including two Emmy Awards and two Golden Globes. ‘Atlanta’s’ second season premieres on March 1 on FX.
