Festivals Are Now the Best Place to Get Discovered

Date:

Festivals are quickly becoming the best place to get discovered.

Instagram has quickly become the easiest way to get discovered. Talent agencies, casting directors, producers and directors are constantly using the mobile app to find the next undiscovered talent to work on their next project. But, according to a new report, the next best place to get discovered as a model or an actor may just be festivals.

According to Glamor Magazine, models are now getting discovered at festivals. For example, several supermodels were discovered at the V Festival, which is the UK version of Coachella. In addition, the talent agency behind Cara Delevingne (Suicide Squad) told Glamor that “Everyone’s relaxed at a festival and having a great time with their friends – exactly when people are at their most beautiful.”

Apparently, the laid back atmosphere is what talent agents and producers are looking for when they are searching new model talent instead of airports or department stores.

“At an airport you are trying to rush through security and make your way to the gate on time to make your flight,” a talent agent told Glamour. “It’s much more difficult and you can only really effectively scout there if you yourself are flying from that airport and you don’t really find people hanging around check in. At festivals the atmosphere is much more chill.”

So how do you get noticed? Well one model explained, not to wear too much make up and have your own sense of individual style.

From Glamour:

“Makeup is actually off-putting to model scouts as we are looking for fresh faces and the true character and beauty of each girl,” said Viva’s founder Hand, while Storm’s Yianoullou says it’s “more about the individual rather than a blank canvas so it’s great to see girls with originality and style.”

While looking ‘cool’ might get you spotted, agencies are looking for personality over what labels you’re wearing.
