Watch A Model’s Face Transform with New Age make up

Can you imagine a time and place where performers can change their makeup and character in real time without getting off the stage, applying more foundation, or lipstick? In a new video by Nobumichi Asai called Omote, the future has finally arrived. The video shows a model’s face morphed on the spot with makeup made of light.

In the two-minute video the model’s face is immersed with lights to create a layer of “digital makeup”, using motion capture technology and an invention called project mapping.

The accuracy of the face is scanned before a series of make up masks are applied that even work as the face moves around. The visuals can change from makeup, to a full robotic face.
