The Next 3 Movies and TV Shows to Film in North Carolina

The North Carolina film grant’s 3 movies and TV shows to film in the state.

After North Carolina got rid of their film tax incentives, the state changed their film credits to a grant program with a set amount of money per year. According to reports, the first phase of the grant program is here and the N.C. Department of Commerce announced Friday that the three movies and TV shows that will receives the entire $10 million fund for the entire fiscal year ending June 30. The three productions are expected to provide $60 million in direct state spending, according to the North Carolina Department of Commerce.

“I think at the end of the day, these productions give us the best return that people are looking for when tax dollars are being spent,” he said. “That is based on the combined number of jobs created, estimated in-state spending and their chances to showcase the state.” [Star News Online]

Since, North Carolina got rid of their previous tax incentive program, producers have flocked to Louisiana and Georgia to film their TV shows and movies. One major TV show filmed in North Carolina was Fox’s ‘Sleepy Hollow’, according to reports, ‘Sleepy Hollow’ Season 3 will film in Atlanta in the next few weeks.

Under the Dome

Under the Dome is currently filming their third season. Under the Dome centers around an invisible and mysterious force field descends upon a small fictional town in the United States, trapping residents inside, cut off from the rest of civilization. The trapped townsfolk must discover the secrets and purpose of the “dome” and its origins, while coming to learn more than they ever knew about each other.

Lionsgate Television Project

According to reports, an untitled ‘Lionsgate Television Project’ is set to shoot in North Carolina in the next few weeks. The project is rumored to be a remake of the 1987 Patrick Swayze hit movie, ‘Dirty Dancing’.

Late in the Season

‘Late in the Season’ features Kevin Sorbo (Hercules) and centers around a Seattle stockbroker joining a college basketball team. It will shoot on Davidson’s College campus in Charlotte, North Carolina.
