Scarlett Johansson’s ‘Lucy’ Destroys ‘Hercules’ in the Box Office

Date:

Scarlett Johansson’s ‘Lucy‘ destroyed The Rock’s ‘Hercules‘ movie in the box office this weekend.

Two new releases went head to head this weekend and the results were not that pretty.

Scarlett Johansson destroyed The Rock in the box office battle. But, the problem probably did not come from Dwayne Johnson‘s acting skills but from the fact that another Hercules movie was released less than six months ago.

The ‘Hercules‘ movie cost $100 million to make against Lucy’s $40 million dollar. Internationally, ‘Hercules‘ made another $28.7 million overseas, where ‘Lucy‘ hasn’t yet opened.

Hot Trailer: ‘Hercules’ Starring Dwayne Johnson’s New Trailer Looks Amazing

Despite being a number one movie, Scarlett Johansson’s ‘Lucy‘ was not really liked. But, what made people upset is that the ‘Lucy‘ feature film is completely different than the trailer

The film’s marketing highlights a wholly different movie, selling a sci-fi heavy character drama about a young woman unwillingly given a drug that basically unlocks her brain and transforms her into a higher form of human as a “Watch Scarlett Johansson use super powers to kick righteous butt!” action picture.  What action the film contains is mostly revealed in the trailer, so the fact that the film received a C+ from Cinemascore is actually surprising. Luckily for us, ‘Guardians of the Galaxy‘ comes out this week.
