Rupert Grint: I Didn’t Want to Kiss Emma Watson in ‘Harry Potter’

Date:

Actor Rupert Grint didn’t want to kiss Emma Watson in Harry Potter.

While millions of fans around the world would do nearly anything for a chance to kiss Hermoine Granger, but Rupert Grint was not one of them.

Rupert Grint, the 27-year-old actor who played the red headed wizard in the Harry Potter movies, claims his famous kissing scene with Emma Watson was extremely awkward.

“I never look back at that scene,” Grint told People on Friday at Universal Orlando’s Celebration of Harry Potter event. “I’ve known Emma since she was literally 9 years old and we had this very brother-sister relationship. And it just felt very surreal. I have a memory of her face getting closer and closer. Like, ‘Oh my God.’ I can’t really remember anything apart from that.”

Apparently, the two actors didn’t practice the scene either. “One take was enough. It was such a huge moment and there was so much expectation. Quite a lot of pressure actually.”

Emma Watson discussed the scene in the past:

“Rupert was the weirdest. Dan [Radcliffe] wasn’t so bad,” she told OK! Magazine. “I just had to remind myself, ‘I am an actress. I am Hermione. This is a role.’ But it was really hard. We just have so much history together. They are like my brothers.”

She added: “Dan and I could sort of have a laugh about it. Whereas Rupert’s a bit more quiet so I didn’t really know what he was thinking which made me a bit more nervous.”

Rupert Grint was at the three-day Wizarding World of Harry Potter with fellow cast members Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom), Katie Leung (Cho Chang), Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley) and Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood.)

Rupert Grint’s next movie is Moonwalkers, which was released earlier this month. According to IMDB, Moonwalker centers around a CIA agent. “After failing to locate the legendary Stanley Kubrick, an unstable CIA agent (Ron Perlman) must instead team up with a seedy rock band manager (Rupert Grint) to develop the biggest con of all time-staging the moon landing.”
