‘Fast & Furious’ is Planning TWO Spin-Off Movies

Date:

Here’s some major Fast & Furious news: Eva Mendes and Dwayne Johnson maybe getting their own Fast & Furious spin-off movies.

The last time we saw her character, Monica Fuentes, was in the movie Fast Five. And according to reports, producers are going to see how well she does in the upcoming Fast 8 movie before it’s official.

We Got This Covered cite an unnamed source with the following news:

If you recall, not too long ago, we told you that Eva Mendes would be brought back for Furious 8. That still appears to be the case. But now, the same source who gave us that tip is back and has new information for us. According to him, Mendes is being brought back because both Vin Diesel and director F. Gary Gray want to test how she does with audiences as they’re thinking of giving her character, Monica Fuentes, a spinoff film.

Our source was unclear exactly how Mendes will factor into things, but she’s said to be central to the plot. Furthermore, actor Tommy Hatto will also be featured in the film as someone close to Monica, quite possibly her son.

“Mendes is being brought back because both Vin Diesel and director F. Gary Gray want to test how she does with audiences as they’re thinking of giving her character, Monica Fuentes, a spinoff film.”

Mendes first appeared in the hit 2003 Fast & Furious sequel, 2 Fast 2 Furious, after Vin Diesel said he didn’t want to return to the franchise.

It is also rumored that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will return for a Luke Hobbs spin-off, which will undoubtedbly be popular as Forbes recently ranked the actor as one of the highest earning actors in Hollywood.

Screen Rant recently shared this tip from Dwayne’s interview during a press conference for San Andreas: “We all are interested in it. I just had a big conversation with the studio. So we’ll see. I still think for me personally we’ve created a little bit of space for him in 7 and the gauge is set for what the audience will want. That’s my take on it, you know, but a lot of other people have to have input.”

It will be extremely interesting to see what kind of movies Universal has in mind for both Luke Hobbs and Monica Fuentes on their solo journeys. But, it makes perfect sense as Hollywood is more interested in creating cinematic universes rather than new and original movies. Especially after the recent success of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

This news comes as rumors suggest Fast 8 will film in Atlanta, Georgia.

What do you think? Is that a good decision? Share with us your thoughts in the comments below!
