Lamar Odom is Making “Progress” But May Have Brain Damage

Date:

Lamar Odom is out of a coma but he still has a long way to go. So what’s next for Lamar Odom?

It is crazy to see how much of a difference one day can make in someone’s life. According to reports, Lamar Odom woke up from a coma on Friday morning and he continued to show signs of improvement on Saturday, however, it is important to note that the former NBA championship winner is not out of the water yet and has a long way to get.

From E! News:

E! News has exclusively learned that Odom passed a swallow test, a promising sign of neurological function and an important step because doctors took out his breathing tube and needed to ensure he could swallow on his own.

We’ve also learned that Odom was helped out of bed for the first time since being hospitalized Tuesday night. He was moved with assistance into a chair and his breathing showed no signs of distress. He continues to wear a mask to aid the flow of oxygen but he’s breathing on his own.

According to reports, Lamar Odom was opening his eyes and said “hi” to his estranged wife, Khloe Kardashian.

However, it is important to point out that the former reality star is communicating through hand signals. According to reports he’s attempting to communicate with words but his speech is limited.

E! News sources report that Lamar is “heading in the right direction. This is great progress but there is always the possibility for setbacks.”

Lamar Odom was found unconscious on Tuesday at a brothel in Crystal, Nevada after what doctors would later treat as a drug overdose. He was taken to a nearby hospital in Las Vegas.

Lamar Odom May Have Brain Damage

Earlier this week, a source said that Lamar Odom may have suffered a “loss of oxygen but also possible stroke.” And Odom suffered kidney failure and doctors are monitoring to see if he had possible brain damage.
