Kingsman 2 Coming Soon! Sequel To Start Filming This April

Date:

‘Kingsman’ sequel is getting ready to start filming in April despite several major issues, problems and setbacks.

According to a recent report, 20th Century Fox is planning on creating a sequel to the hit feature film Kingsman: The Secret Service, which made more than $400 million worldwide, despite opening against the wildly popular erotic sex novel turned movie Fifty Shades of Grey.

Currently, they are looking at an April start date for filming, even though that presents several major problems including bringing back the leading actor in the feature film.

Matthew Vaughn announced in June that he was working on writing the sequel to the film, but he is also scheduled to start working on I Am Pilgrim for MGM in 2016, another spy movie based on the novel by Terry Hayes. In fact, Terry Hayes will be writing the screenplay for I Am Pilgrim. But, this will be Vaughn’s first time directing a sequel even though several of his movies have turned into franchise films.

Taron Egerton, who played Eggsy, is scheduled to star in the upcoming Robin Hood reboot, Robin Hood: Origins, which is yet another “gritty” version of Robin Hood, which is also expected to start filming next year. It is one of several Robin hood movies in the works around Hollywood, so Lionsgate seems to want to rush it into production, leaving Egerton to fit into the two filming schedules, or the movie will go ahead without Taron Egerton.

This type of bickering between film studios and projects is nothing new. Fox and Lionsgate have already fought over Jennifer Lawrence as she was booked to work on two major franchise films, X-Men and The Hunger Games. Ultimately, Fox moved up their production of X-Men: Days of Future Past.

But Robin Hood: Origins is already in development, with hopes to start filming at the end of the year. Fox, however, already has the option for a sequel with Egerton, which means they have dibs on Egerton before anyone else.

Kingsman: The Secret Service definitely shocked the Hollywood mold for action-spy thrillers. Created by Dave Gibbons and Mark Millar, the movie followed the recruitment and training of a potential secret agent, Gary “Eggsy” Unwin (Taron Egerton), into a secret spy organization. Kingsman was a major box office hit and well loved by critics. Rotten Tomatoes gave the movie an average rating of 75% positive rating and calling it “Stylish, subversive, and above all fun, Kingsman: The Secret Service finds director Matthew Vaughn sending up the spy genre with gleeful abandon.”
