Daily Show’s John Oliver Joins HBO for a New Satirical Weekly News Series

Date:

While Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert work on their cable networks, former News associate/comedian for the Daily Show, John Oliver moves to HBO.

According to TV Line, Oliver will have a ‘topical weekly comedy series on HBO’ starting 2014. The show ill be a satirical look at news, politics, and current events.

“I’m incredibly excited to be joining HBO,” Oliver said, “especially as I presume this means I get free HBO now. I want to thank Comedy Central, and everyone at The Daily Show for the best seven and a half years of my life. But most of all, I’d like to thank Jon Stewart. He taught me everything I know. In fact, if I fail in the future, it’s entirely his fault.” (Via)

This is big news, especially since he worked as Jon Stewart’s replacement several months ago. What do you think of John Oliver’s new show? Do you think it will be worth checking out?
