Henry Cavill: Kids Used to Pick On Me for Being Fat

Date:

They used to call him Fat Cavill now millions of people call him Superman.

Cavill began his acting career starring as Albert Mondego in the 2002 film adaptation of ‘The Count of Monte Cristo’. He would later star in minor and supporting roles in television shows such as BBC’s The Inspector Lynley Mysteries,Midsomer Murders and The Tudors before transitioning to more mainstream Hollywood films such as Tristan & Isolde, Stardust and Immortals.

He may be one of Hollywood’s biggest actors, but Henry Cavill hasn’t always been so popular. Superman star admits he was teased as a teenager for being overweight and have “rolls.” Even one cruel classmate told him that he had “t–ts”

‘They used to call me Fat Cavill,’ Henry told Men’s Fitness. ‘I actually had rolls of fat on me.’

When Henry Cavill attended one of Britain’s most prestigous schools at the age of 13 he revealed that the teasing only got worse. Henry was made to feel like an outcast from the start and would cry on the phone three times a day because he was so homesick.

Henry Cavill previously opened up about his tortured past to Event magazine, revealing that his peers picked on him because he was an easy target.

‘There was nothing physical I was a chubby kid but I wasn’t a weakling’, he said.

‘I could have stood up for myself in that department. It was name-calling, and kids do that. So I comfort ate.’

In order to prepare for the role of Superman, the actor was forced to eat only 1800 calories per day to lose weight for the movie role. ‘The production hired a trainer to work with me’, he said. I’ve always been physical but I’m not always in the gym. In pre-production I was knackered all the time.’

Nowadays, the 32-year-old actor is one of Hollywood’s most ripped entertainers. He has earned roles in movies such as the Superman reboot ‘Man of Steel’ and the upcoming sequel, ‘Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice’.
