Here is the BEST Way to Join Georgia’s Film Industry

Date:

The Georgia Production Partnership helps keep Georgia’s film industry growing in the right direction.

Georgia’s film industry is booming. But, behind close doors there’s a vocal group pushing for more and more productions to film in Atlanta, Savannah and surrounding cities. This group is the Georgia Production Partnership (GPP). The Georgia Production Partnership is a vital part of Georgia’s film industry but, what is the GPP and how do they boost the film industry?

According to the GPP, the Georgia Production Partnership is a group of companies and individuals who are actively working on the state’s video, music and video game industries. “Our goal is to do whatever it takes to help grow the industry in Georgia. In 1995, GPP started as an idea, since then it has grown to become the voice of the industry in Georgia.”

“Our goal is to do whatever it takes to help grow the industry in Georgia.

With over 500 members made up of actual filmmakers, writers, TV and film crew professionals, TV studios, payroll, casting directors, actors, talent agencies, and hotel representatives, the GPP works hard putting people to work in Georgia. The not-for-profit group actively works on building the state’s film industry and helped Georgia have on average 30 movies and TV shows filming at one time.

So what does the GPP do?

According to their website, they are the main group that have pushed the Georgia film tax incentives bill.

From the GPP:

Providing research, resources and support to the Georgia Film, Music & Digital Entertainment Office, GPP members celebrated the passage of, what has been called by numerous media and network executives as, “one of the best state tax incentives bills in America.”

How does the GPP benefit filmmakers?

The Georgia Production Partnership offers training courses to provide entry level positions for aspiring filmmakers, actors and crew members interested in joining Georgia’s film industry. Workshops include Location Scouting, How to Be a Film Friendly Vender, and introduction courses associated with resume building and tools of the trade.

How can you join the Georgia Production Partnership?

Every first Tuesday of every month the GPP meets to discuss the issues and challenges that face their production community. Meetings include industry representatives and speakers. It is also one of the best ways to connect and network with the movers and shakers in the film industry including casting directors, producers, and studio executives.

In addition, the Georgia Production Partnership hosts an annual gala event as an industry fundraiser. All of their profits go back into the community supporting Georgia film festivals including the world famous Atlanta Film Festival, The Savannah Film Festival, and the Atlanta Jewish Film Festival. In fact, a percentage of the funds also pay for lobbying to keep the tax incentive alive.
