‘Fantastic Four’ Director Told Actors When to Breathe During Takes

Date:

‘Fantastic Four’ director wouldn’t let the actors act while filming the ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot.

The latest ‘Fantastic Four’ movie is a major flop of epic proportions. Many news outlets have been trying to figure out what went wrong. But, it looks like a major movie studio hired an inexperienced director and it was too late before they both realized that the movie was garbage.

In a new story by The Hollywood Reporter, one of the cast members told the director that they hated the movie.

Days before Fantastic Four opened, director Josh Trank sent an email to some members of the cast and crew to say he was proud of the film, which, he wrote, was “better than 99 percent of the comic-book movies ever made.”

“I don’t think so,” responded one cast member.

We can only guess which actor said it. Was it Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan or Kate Mara?

In addition, Trank was extremely anti-social. He would close himself off from the world by putting a tent around his camera and shutting himself off between takes.

…By several accounts, he resisted help. “He holed up in a tent and cut himself off from everybody,” says one high-level source. Literally, there was a tent on the Louisiana set. “He built a black tent around his monitor,” says a crewmember. “He was extremely withdrawn.” Between setups, this person adds, “he would go to his trailer and he wouldn’t interact with anybody.”

He also micromanaged everyone else on set even teling the actors when to blink and breathe.

“During takes, he would be telling [cast members] when to blink and when to breathe,” one person says. “He kept pushing them to make the performance as flat as possible.”

At the end of the day ‘Fantastic Four’ bombed, Fox is forced to rethink their future movie strategy, and Josh Trank’s career in Hollywood is probably over.
