Daisy Ridley Reveals “No one wants to employ me” After Star Wars

Daisy Ridley reveals the difficulties of building an acting career after appearing in Star Wars.

Daisy Ridley hit the jackpot after appear in the latest Star Wars trilogy. However, the actress struggled to find work after landing the acting job.

Ridley became a household name after playing Rey in the rebooted Star Wars movies, which ended with 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker. But she found herself auditioning for roles in early 2020 and getting very few acting offers.

“Weirdly, at the beginning of the year, nothing was coming through,” Ridley told Entertainment Weekly.

“I was like, ‘Aww! No one wants to employ me’… There were actually loads of things that I auditioned for at the beginning of the year and didn’t get any of them.”

She added: “I had that moment of, ‘Oh my god!’ and then just thought, ‘Everything in its right time.'”

Ridley says she struggled for work, and then the Coronavirus Pandemic took hold of the entertainment industry and shut down everything. The COVID-19 lockdown allowed her to finally “process” exiting the franchise. “To be forced to slow down, it was good mentally for me because [Star Wars was] a big thing in my life,” she said.

Other than the Star Wars franchise, Ridley appeared in 2017’s Murder on the Orient Express and voiced a rabbit in 2018’s Peter Rabbit.

Ridley will star alongside Tom Holland in the movie Chaos Walking, which finished filming in 2017 but was forced tow hit years in development to complete reshoots due to the franchise schedules of Ridley and Holland. So far, that movie will not be released until 2021.

In related Star Wars news, George Lucas reportedly wants to direct a new ‘Star Wars’ trilogy.

According to reports, George Lucas wants to direct a new, original ‘Star Wars’ trilogy. We Got This Covered reports the world-renowned filmmaker would like to develop and run it for LucasFilm. However, only under the condition, the company’s current leader Kathleen Kennedy is not involved in the project.

Lucas reportedly does not have a great relationship with Kennedy at the moment. He blames her for “ruining” the trilogy and supposedly wants to become more involved with his franchise in the future.
