American Idol Finalist Dies After Reported Blood Clot

American Idol Finalist, Michael Johns Dies After Reported Blood Clot

American Idol contestant has recently passed away after a blood clot. According to Deadline, various sources are confirming that Season 7 American Idol contestant and finalist, Michael Johns has died from a blood clot in his ankle. Michael Johns visited a doctor on Thursday and complained of bruising and swelling in his leg, but per the doctor’s recommendations he was sent home. The following afternoon, John was found unresponsive in his friend’s apartment.

Michael John, originally from Australia, grew up and lived in Atlanta, Georgia from 1998 to 2002, playing in popular Atlanta nightclubs and restraunts. In 2008, he released an album, Hold Back My Heart and released the single “Heart on My Sleeve“.

Former American Idol judge Simon Cowell said his condolences via Twitter:

Michael John‘s family also released a statement. “Our family is devastated by the passing of our beloved Michael, a wonderful husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend. We appreciate the outpouring of love and support we have received from all corners of the globe. Please keep Michael in your thoughts and respect our need to grieve privately in this difficult time.”
