5 Strangest Reasons Why a Movie Has Been Canceled

Date:

Here are the 5 strangest and weird reasons why a movie has been canceled.

Sometimes a movie gets canceled because of legitimate reasons. But, other times a movie can get canceled for really weird or dumb reasons. Here are 5 times a movie has been canceled for a strange or stupid reason.

5. Terry Gilliam’s The Man Who Killed Don Quixote

Terry Gilliam’s The Man Who Killed Don Quixote got canceled at least three times (and really, more) after multiple, incessant strokes of bad luck. (Equipment-destroying flood, star gets a herniated disc, sound recording ruined by Spanish air force drills, insurance blowing up, and on and on).

4. Stanley Kubrick movies

Kubrick had a lot of his movies cancelled mostly because of funding, and other movies that came out that were similar to the material and other movies. For example, Aryan Papers and Napoleon weren’t finished because of Schindler’s List, and Waterloo. In addition, A.I. wasn’t created because CGI wasn’t at its height. Flowers in the Attic was cancelled because the main characters were to incestuous.

3. Tron 3

Tron 3 was going to start ramping up production. However, after George Clooney’s epic Disney flop, Tomorrowland, Disney decided to pull the plug on the sci-fi adventure thriller.

2. Pyongyang starring Steve Carell

Gore Verbinski’s Pyongyang starring Steve Carell, a North Korean thriller canceled because of the aftermath of The Interview. Seth Rogen’s The Interview sparked an international controversy as North Korean hackers reportedly hacked Sony Pictures and leaked confidential e-mails to the press. After the scandal, Gore Verbinski’s Pyongyang starring Steve Carell was canceled.

1. ‘The Queen’ biopic starring Sacha Baron Cohen

The Queen movie starring Sacha Baron Cohen as Freddie Mercury got cancelled due to “creative differences” between the star and the producers, who were some of the remaining band members. The band members wanted the biopic to have Mercury in the first half–then after he died, the second half would be about the triumphs of post-Mercury Queen.
