High school basketball player was arrested after it was discovered he was a 30-year-old man.
The Catholic Central High School boys basketball team, located in Windsor, Ontario, has a really talented basketball player. Jonathon Nicola is a 6-foot-9 center that is so good that the coach put together a workout video and is reported to have a good shot at going pro. However, his chances are pretty much over because Nicola is 30 years old.
According to the Windsor Star, Nicola, who is from South Sudan, has been arrested for violating the Immigration Refugee Protection Act, and is believed to be 30 years old. In fact, for the last six months, Nicolas has been posing as a 17-year-old student, and was even living with his basketball coach.
No one without first-hand experience can really understand the pains Nicolas was going through in South Sudan. Perhaps he believed enrolling in a high school and playing basketball was his only way out and achieving the American Dream.
Basically, there are layers to this story that the public will never really understands.
