Melbourne Casting Call for Asian Australian Boys
THIS APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED BY A PARENT OR ADULT GUARDIAN WHO IS WILLING TO PROVIDE THEIR CONTACT DETAILS.
Dear Parents,
We are casting a 6 x 10 min web series which will film in Melbourne in Feb 2023. It is a paid job. Previous experience is not essential, just a willingness to give it a go and have some fun whilst filming a terrific web series.
This casting call is to cast the role of TRON, one of three lead kids in the series. We are looking for 10 – 12 yr old Asian Australian boys who live in Melbourne and have lived experience with a physical disability or who are a wheelchair user, if your son does not fit this description please do not proceed with an application.
ABOUT THE CHARACTER – “TRON”
Tron is disorganised and for an eleven year old he has a lot things on the go. He loves gadgets and technology and knows heaps about the tech but could never afford it. The doco he and his friends are making is giving him the chance to play with the camera gear and he’s really excited and takes charge of the recording sessions – directing the kids and their guests.
He’s cynical, naturally suspicious of people and can smell lies a mile away. He’s rigged up a buzzer which he sounds when a guest doesn’t answer a question – his way of calling them out.
He’s outspoken with a dry wit and uses sarcasm to amuse himself and his friends. His parents are second generation Asian Australians and both are labourers. They’ve struggled to keep up financially. His favourite interviewer is Borat.
Tron is a wheelchair user or has a mild disability but never discusses it. It’s just part of who he is. But it means that he literally sees the world from a different perspective to everyone else. This plays into his wit and sense of humour.
As this is a very specific brief, only suitable applicants will be contacted.
