Boston Casting plans to hold an open casting call for the upcoming movie The Judge, starring Robert Downey Jr., in Shelburne Falls, MA on Saturday, May 18.
Robert John Downey, Jr. is an American actor who made his screen debut at the age of five, appearing in his father’s film Pound. He has appeared in roles associated with the Brat Pack, such as Less Than Zero and Weird Science. Other films he has starred in include Air America, Soapdish, and Natural Born Killers. He starred as the title character in the 1992 film Chaplin, earning him a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actor.
After being released from the California Substance Abuse Treatment Facility and State Prison in 2000 for drug charges, Downey joined the cast of the TV series Ally McBeal playing Calista Flockhart’s love interest. His performance was praised and he received a Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Miniseries, or Television Film. His character was written out when Downey was fired after two drug arrests in late 2000 and early 2001. After one last stay in a court-ordered drug treatment program, Downey finally achieved sobriety.
Now, after completing IRONMAN 3 he is back to play a successful attorney who returns to his hometown for his mother’s funeral and discovers his Alzheimer’s stricken father is suspected of murder and he must represent him in court.

“The Judge” Starring Robert Downey Jr. Open Casting Call
The casting call will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Buckland Town Hall, at 17 State St, Shelburne Falls.
The audition is open to locals 18 years old and over, all types are needed. They are also looking for cars and pickup trucks from the 1980s through 2000. Everyone attending must bring a recent photo of themselves and/or their car.
Boston Casting is also holding an open casting call in their Boston office on May 18 for extras in that area. If you can not attend these casting calls or need more information, you can register with Boston Casting at http://www.bostoncasting.com/.
Production on the movie, which will also star Leighton Meester, Vera Farmiga, Robert Duvall, Vincent D’Onofrio, and Billy Bob Thornton, is expected to begin on June 3, 2013. The Judge will film on a Monday through Friday schedule for 12 to 14 days in Shelburne Falls, before moving to the Boston area.
