Ozark is a crime drama streaming TV series created by Bill Dubuque and Mark Williams for Netflix and produced by Media Rights Capital. The TV series stars Jason Bateman and Laura Linney as a married couple who move to the Ozarks to launder money for a drug cartel. Bateman works as the executive producer and director of the series. The first season premiered on July 21, 2017. The second season was released on August 31, 2018, and the third season released on March 27, 2020. In June 2020, Netflix renewed the series for a fourth and final season, which will have 14 episodes split into two parts.

Ozark is loved by critics and fans. The show received praise for its acting, tone, and writing. Since the show’s inception, it has received 32 Primetime Emmy Award nominations including two for Outstanding Drama Series. Jason Bateman won for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series in 2018 and Juli Garner won twice for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Seris in 2019 and 2020. Jason Bateman has received two additional Golden Globe Award nominations for Best Actor – Television Series Drama.

What is Ozark about?

A money-laundering scheme for a Mexican drug cartel goes wrong causing financial advisor Martin “Marty” Byrd to propose to make amends by offering an even larger laundering operation in the Lake of the Ozarks region of central Missouri. Marty suddenly relocates his family from Chicago to Osage Beach, Missouri. When the Byrdes arrive in Missouri, they get involved with local criminals including the Kansas City Mafia.

  • Jason Bateman as Martin “Marty” Byrde, Wendy’s husband and Charlotte and Jonah’s father. He is a self-employed financial advisor based in Chicago in 2007 when he and his firm partner begin to wash money for a Mexican drug cartel.
  • Laura Linney as Wendy Byrde (née Davis), Marty’s wife and Charlotte and Jonah’s mother. She is a PR operative for political campaigns. She becomes a lobbyist for Marty’s campaign to construct a casino.
