HBO miniseries “The Plot Against America” is now hiring background actors in New York
Casting directors are now casting actors, models, and talent to work on scenes filming on September 23rd through Thursday, September 26th in Albany, New York.
Producers are seeking the following types:
- Firefighters/police officers
- Jewish families (adults & kids!)
- Farmhands
- National Guard
- This show is set in the 1940s, so all men must be comfortable receiving a 1940’s hair cut and being clean-shaven. Women must have hair no longer than the top of the bust (or be willing to receive a cut). No buzz cuts, modern fades, or highlights/colored hair, please!
About “The Plot Against America”:
According to Deadline, the new HBO series is a six-part miniseries based on the Philip Roth novel. The show will center around an alternate American history told through the eyes of a Jewish family in New Jersey as they watch the rise of the nation toward fascism. In April 2019, Winona Ryder, Zoe Kazan, Morgan Spector, John Turturro Anthony Boyle, Azhy Robertson, and Caleb Malis joined the cast of the series.

Grant Wilfley Casting is seeking UPSTATE NEW YORK locals for upcoming background work on new HBO Limited Series, THE PLOT AGAINST AMERICA, created by David Simon (The Wire, The Deuce), based on the book by Philip Roth.
Our shoot will take place between MONDAY, 9/23 through THURSDAY, 9/26. If you can only work one day, that’s fine, but we also may be able to use people for all dates!
There would also be a wardrobe fitting upstate as well before the date of shooting. Location still TBD!
We will be filming in the Albany, Poughkeepsie, Hudson, Coxsackie, Athens, Kingston, Oneonta & Bloomville areas and are looking for locals to portray the following types:
*Firefighters/police officers
*Jewish families (adults & kids!)
*Farmhands
*National Guard
as well as general passersby. ALL AGES AND TYPES WELCOME TO APPLY! SAG MEMBERS AS WELL!

-please note your availability for the following dates (Mon 9/23, Tues 9/24, Wed 9/25, Thurs 9/26)
-men: ok receiving 1940s hair cut and being clean shaven?
-men: height, weight, jacket, neck x sleeve, waist x inseam, and shoe
-women: please note length of your hair, if longer than breast, are you willing to receive a cut?
-women: height, weight, bust-waist-hips, dress/pant, and shoe
-please note what area you’re local to
*If you are submitting a minor (17 y/o and under), please note their age and if they have braces. Please also note if they have a NY performer permit. If not, we can provide instructions on how to obtain!
