‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ is now in pre-production, and casting directors are now casting speaking roles for the upcoming feature film.
In April 2017, James Gunn, the director of the last two ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ movies, announced he would return to write and direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. However, in July 2018, Disney and Marvel cut ties with Gunn following the resurfacing of controversial tweets. Production was put on hold a month later. However, in March 2019, Disney and Marvel Studios reversed their decision and brought Gunn back as the director. Filming will begin as soon as Gunn has completed work on the Warner Bros. feature film ‘The Suicide Squad’ in 2020, which is now filming in Atlanta, Georgia.
The first ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ movie earned over $300 million in North America and the movie earned an estimated $440 million in other countries, for a worldwide total of $773.3 million. The film became the third highest-grossing film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, behind ‘The Avengers’ and ‘Iron Man 3’.
‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2’ grossed more than $863 million worldwide, making it the eighth-highest grossing film of 2017, while also beating the original. Fans and critics praised the movie for its acting, humor, direction, and soundtrack. It also received a nomination for Best Visual Effects at the 90th Academy Awards.
A sequel, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is in development, with Gunn returning as writer and director. The upcoming feature film will star Elizabeth Debicki, Pom Klementieff, Zoe Saldana and Chris Pratt.
