Drumline sequel, “Drumline 2” is holding a casting call in Atlanta, Georgia.
According to Deadline.com, the network has given a green light to Drumline: A New Beat. It will be the next original movie to follow the widely popular TLC Biopic that was filmed in Atlanta, Georgia.
Nick Cannon is expected to make a return, reprising his role as well as executive producing alongside FOX 2000?s film producers Wendy Finerman, Jody Gerson, and Dallas Austin. It is expected that Regina Hicks and Karin Gist will write the script and release is scheduled for fall 2014 while filming will take place this spring.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, unlike the 2002 flick, this version will focus on a female lead — Dani Bolton from Brooklyn — and her decision to defy her parents, go to school in New Orleans and bring a once-prominent drumline back to life.
Aside from Cannon, feature producers include Wendy Finerman, Jody Gerson and Dallas Austin, and Regina Hicks and Karin Gist will be writing the new script.
CL Casting is currently seeking experienced football players to work in the movie.
