‘If Beale Street Could Talk’ NYC Casting Call for Teens

Barry Jenkins’ If Beale Street Could Talk is now casting neighborhood kids in New York City.

Casting directors are seeking talent to work on scenes filming this Thursday, October 19th in New York City. Producers are seeking the following types:

  • SAG-AFTRA and Non Union African American 14-17 year old girls to portray neighborhood kids playing Double Dutch in 1970s Harlem.

About If Beale Street Could Talk:

Variety reports that Jenkins will direct an adaption of James Baldwin’s “If Beale Street Could Talk,” the first film as part of his deal with Annapurna Pictures and his own shingle, PASTEL.

Baldwin’s novel “follows Tish, a newly engaged Harlem woman who races against the clock to prove her lover’s innocence while carrying their first born child. It’s a celebration of love told through the story of a young couple, their families, and their lives.”

Grant Wilfley Casting is seeking the following for upcoming feature film If Beale Street Could Talk, directed by Academy Award Winner Barry Jenkins (Moonlight):

SAG-AFTRA and Non Union African American 14-17 year old girls to portray neighborhood kids playing Double Dutch in 1970s Harlem. Must be available for a fitting this Friday 10/6 or early next week, and for a shoot on Thursday 10/19 in NYC.

– Name
– Phone #
– Union status (SAG-AFTRA or Non Union)
– 2-3 current photos of yourself that clearly show your current look and hair length.
– Availability for fitting Friday 10/6 or early next week and work Thursday 10/19
– Note if you can play double dutch and if you own a double dutch rope!
