It is a historical drama series created and written by Michael Hirst for the History Channel. The TV series, which films in Ireland, first premiered in 2013. The series will end on December 30, when the sixth and final season. A sequel series titled Vikings: Valhalla is currently in development for Netflix.
The series is based on the sagas of Ragnar Lothbrok, who is one of the most famous Norse heroes and notorious for the invasions of England and France. The show depicts Ragnar as a farmer who rises to fame by successfully raiding England and becoming a King. The later series centers around his sons and their ventures in England, Scandinavia, and the Mediterranean.
Vikings Cast:
On November 19, 2019, it was announced that this, titled Vikings: Valhalla, would take place 100 years after the end of the original series and be released on Netflix. The 24-episode series is set to be made by MGM Television and filmed primarily in Ireland, working from the same Ashford Studios in County Wicklow.
