Pharrell Williams Launches 'Billionaire Boys Club' Creators Studio in Atlanta

<h2><a href="https://www.projectcasting.com/tag/pharrell-williams/">Pharrell Williams</a> is making moves to boost Virginia's film industry.</h2>
Pharrell Williams co-produced the movie <em>Hidden Figures </em>two years ago. The movie centered around the true story of three African-American women, who were mathematicians from Virginia, whose efforts helped lead to the integration of the then-segregated NASA.

The Oscar-nominated movie features NASA's Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia in the 1960s. But the movie filmed in Georgia, where film tax credits offered 30% filming incentives.

Williams, a Virginia Beach native, found it odd that while the movie's true story took place in Virginia, it was being filmed elsewhere.

"As I stood on set among all of this positivity and productive energy, I asked myself: Why were we telling a Hampton Roads story in Atlanta?"

He asks this question in a new video being shared around Virginia's state capital. His solution is to create a film and soundstage campus in Virginia.

In an interview with the <a href="https://pilotonline.com/entertainment/article_a40b63a8-471d-11e8-af88-5fe976936fca.html"><em>Virginia Pilot</em></a>, he said, "Nothing would make me happier than to work with the state of Virginia on making it a place where people come to create film, television shows and advertising. It would provide jobs and inspiration."

Williams is reportedly consulting with Venture Realty Group, a commercial real estate developer based in Virginia Beach, on possible sites for a future film campus. His idea is to create studio space in Virginia Beach and enhance the state's film industry.

Currently, in Virginia, there is a $6.5 million cap on film incentives that will end in 2022. "The amount is not enough to create critical mass, to build infrastructure," said Andy Edmunds, director of the Virginia Film Office.

Meanwhile, Georgia has no limits on incentives with no end in sight. In fact, in 2017 the state gave hundreds of millions in taxes on film production, but it was a smart investment as it returned more than $2 billion in revenue to the state.

Williams boasts of the "economic engine" of film and TV industries and he wants Virginia to be competitive.

"Virginia, we can do this," he says. "It's time now to make Virginia a premiere film destination."

Pharrell Williams Joins Taraji P. Henson's New Movie 'Hidden Figures'

<h2>Pharrell revealed the story behind the first time he met Michael Jackson in a preview of OTHERtone, his Beats 1 show with Scott Verner and it's uncomfortably interesting.</h2>
"I met him two times," Williams says. "He comes in, he's tall, standing there, two beautiful women walk in, he kisses one. It's a moment!" Williams explains. "It ain't like no peck, it's a situation. [The women] look Brazilian, and I'm like, 'Wow!’ He's the king of catching you off guard."

After that rather harsh introduction to Michael Jackson, Pharrell says Michael Jackson turned down the songs that he had brought for him.

"I don't think he realized that I was going to give those songs to Justin [Timberlake]," Williams added, which eventually led to his second interaction with MJ.

"So I’m in the studio with Justin, and they say, 'Got a call for you on line 1, it's Michael Jackson,'" he says. "So I'm thinking it's one of my friends trying to be funny. And I heard someone eating popcorn in my ear, that's how I know that it's him. He's the king of control, I think he invented it! He's like, 'Hey, okay, you working with Justin? Ah that's really nice, okay cool, well you guys have a great session, tell Justin I said hello. And Justin was like, 'Who was that? Michael? Yeah he does that.'"

Pharrell Williams Reveals Awkward Michael Jackson Story

<h2>Robin Thicke suffered drug abuse and lied about involvement in the hit song 'Blurred Lines'.</h2>
<strong>Robin Thicke</strong> has recently confessed that he was jealous of Pharrell Williams musical abilities that he told interviewers he had a bigger part in writing the 2013 hit song, '<em>Blurred Lines</em>.'

<strong>Robin Thicke</strong> was recently interrogated for stealing <strong>Marvin Gaye's</strong> song '<em>Got to Give It Up</em>' and the singer told attorneys under oath that his involvement in the song was very small and insignificant.

Currently, <strong>Robin Thicke</strong> and <strong>Pharrell Williams</strong> are in the middle of a legal battle with Marvin Gaye's children over allegedly stealing parts of Marvin Gaye's song without their permission.

<span style="color: #231f20;"><strong>Robin Thicke</strong>&nbsp;told the Gayes' lawyer, "I was jealous and I wanted some of the credit... I tried to take credit for it later because (Williams) wrote the whole thing pretty much by himself and I was envious of that... I was present. Obviously, I sang it. I had to be there."</span>

But, <strong>Robin Thicke</strong> also revealed that he was abusing prescription medications and alcohol while, producers were creating the song.
<blockquote><span style="color: #231f20;">"To be honest... I was high on Vicodin and alcohol when I showed up at the studio. So my recollection is when we made the song, I thought I wanted... I wanted to be more involved than I actually was by the time, nine months later, it became a huge hit and I wanted credit. "I started kind of convincing myself that I was a little more part of it than I was... but the reality is that Pharrell had the beat and he wrote almost every single part of the song... (I was) lucky enough to be in the room."</span></blockquote>
<strong>Robin Thicke</strong> also explained that this is particularly normal in the music industry. He added that,&nbsp;<span style="color: #231f20;">"This is what happens every day in our industry. You know, people are made to look like they have much more authorship in the situation than they actually do. So that's where the embellishment comes in."</span>

<strong>Robin Thicke</strong> also confessed he was high on painkillers when he sat down with <strong>Oprah Winfrey.</strong> When he revealed his wife, <strong>Paula Patton</strong> about his drug use, she&nbsp;left him.
