Looking For a Film Job? Drew Barrymore's 'The Stand-In' is Now Hiring

<h2>Drew Barrymore received some of the best piece of acting advice from Steven Spielberg when she was just 7 years old and has carried his wise words throughout her acting career.</h2>
“When Steven Spielberg gives you advice, you listen,” she explained at Self magazine and Fidelity’s “Empowering Conversations” event in New York on Tuesday.

Opportunities to appear in commercials and endorsements rained in after the child actress starred in E.T. but Barrymore, 40, said Spielberg discouraged her from appearing in commercials.

“I remember him saying to me, ‘Please don’t do that.’ My mom and I were from a [single-parent] home. We weren’t doing very well economically. It was extremely tantalizing to take these opportunities. He said, ‘in the broad vision of life, it will water you down. And if you choose your battles carefully, it will be a lot more meaningful,'” she recalled. “At seven with a single-mother home, that was really hard to stay in that type of strict mandate.”

Apparently, the words really struck a chord with Drew Barrymore, who didn't appear on endorsements until she was offered a CoverGirl deal almost 30 years later.

“They came along and they said we’d love to work with you as a spokesmodel. And I said I am not a spokesmodel. I am Josie Grossie. So that’s not gonna work but I really appreciate the idea. However, I love producing and I love being behind things and I love photographers and I love graphics. I studied all of that stuff forever so, maybe one day. And they were like okay. Then they came back and they said would you ever consider being co-creative director? And I said yes. That I would love to do,” she said.

Earlier this week, the body of Drew Barrymore's half sister was found in a parked car near San Diego. According to <a href="http://www.10news.com/news/sources-half-sister-of-actress-drew-barrymore-found-dead-in-national-city-07292014" target="_blank">reports</a>, Marta Lopez, the woman who found her body said that she found Barrymore with an energy drink between her legs and white pills in the passenger seat.

"Her car was parked right here last night around midnight," Oscar Sandoval, a neighbor who saw Barrymore's car, told 10News. "I thought she was sleeping or waiting for someone."

According to the <a href="http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/gossip/la-et-mg-drew-barrymore-half-sister-dead-jessica-barrymore-20140730-story.html" target="_blank">Los Angeles Times</a>, Barrymore's sister worked at a Petco and would turn 48 this Thursday. "Although I only met her briefly, I wish her and her loved ones as much peace as possible, and I'm so incredibly sorry for their loss," Drew Barrymore <a href="http://www.people.com/article/drew-barrymore-half-sister-jessica-dead" target="_blank">told People</a>.

Blended,&nbsp;is the new Adam Sandler comedy reuniting Sandler and Drew Barrymore once again and according to recent reviews, the movie has not been quoted as a critical success.

But, Adam Sandler doesn't care. He told Jimmy Kimmel Thursday night, that creating a good movie is not the point. The point is that he was able to get a paid vacation.

<ul style="color: #222222;"><li data-textannotation-id="c40bad8c8c2594ffc0e2f686200d6a1e">Because life is short and I have other things to be upset about, I will not dwell on the offensive aspects of"Blended," the new Adam Sandler comedy: its retrograde gender politics; its delight in the humiliation of children...its quasi-zoological depiction of Africans as servile, dancing, drum-playing simpletons.</li>
	<li data-textannotation-id="896579ce099120c73ddd6ddc3fcce273">In my capacity as a film critic, I find myself more bothered by the sheer audience-insulting incompetence of the filmmaking and the writing. Duty compels me to identify Frank Coraci as the director and Ivan Menchell and Clare Sera as the authors of the script.</li>
	<li data-textannotation-id="31a7788f408ca032204429b99bbaa8ef">Most of "Blended" has the look and pacing of a three-camera sitcom filmed by a bunch of eighth graders and conceived by their less bright classmates.</li>
	<li data-textannotation-id="ebc7cfd3b8db7d60e51412d68de09976">There are comedians who mine their own insecurities for material. Mr. Sandler, in his recent films, compensates for his by building monuments to his own ego.</li>
	<li data-textannotation-id="9cedfb692f13c483835c8bb54f25fd8f">The tragedy is that Ms. Barrymore, who has brought out the best in Mr. Sandler in their previous collaborations ("The Wedding Singer" and "50 First Dates") is here sacrificed on the altar of his showboating narcissism.</li>
	<li data-textannotation-id="9c3b978a10f9845b2d2905c3debe6ee4">"Blended" is rated PG-13 (Parents strongly cautioned). It will make your children stupid.</li>
</ul>After reading the&nbsp;review&nbsp;you can not help but feel bad for Sandler.
When you decide to make a film, do you say 'I wanna make this film somewhere where I can be on vacation?'" Kimmel asked.
"Yes," Sandler admitted.
