When Colin Kaepernick first started his silent protest against social injustice in America, many people pointed their finger and laughed at the NFL quarterback. But, his silent movement is becoming a boisterous voice in the wake of the <strong>Black Lives Matter</strong> movement. However, many people are boycotting the NFL until football players start standing during the National Anthem.

Colin Kaepernick's choice to squat during the National Anthem has pissed off many, to the point that <strong>#boycottNFL</strong> is currently trending on Twitter. Of course, the hashtag's popularity has many people up in arms and even many calling it a joke.

Few players have since joined the San Francisco 49ers backup quarterback in protest including, former teammate and Denver Broncos linebacker <strong>Brandon Marshall</strong>. Marshall took a knee last night prior to the team's season-opening win over Super Bowl rivals, Carolina Panthers.

In a post-game conference, Marshall told reporters he didn't just take a knee, but he will also donate money to the U.S. military veterans.&nbsp;Marshall went on to say:&nbsp;<span class="s1">&#147;The message is I&#146;m against social injustice. I&#146;m not against the military or police or America at all. I&#146;m against social injustice and I feel like this was the right thing to do,&#148; he continued, according to <a href="http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000697185/article/brandon-marshall-takes-knee-during-national-anthem"><span class="s2">NFL.com</span></a>.</span>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">&#147;I feel like this is the right platform. This is our only platform to really be heard &#133; I feel like a lot of times people want us to just shut up and entertain them, shut up and play football. But we have voices as well. We&#146;re actually educated individuals that went to college.&#148;</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">&#147;So when we have an opinion and we speak it, I feel like a lot of people bash us for what we have to say,&#148; Marshall concluded.</span></p>

<h3>And while many people may be taking the movement as a joke, NBC's NFL Kickoff Game <a href="http://www.thewrap.com/nbc-nfl-kickoff-game-tv-ratings-denver-broncos-carolina-panthers/">ratings</a> were down 7% in comparison to previous seasons.</h3>
According to TheWrap, "The Denver Broncos one-point win over the Carolina Panthers posted a 16.5 overnight rating, down 7 percent from last year&#146;s 17.7. Last night had a 29 share, 2015 boasted a 30."

#BoycottNFL Goes Viral After Colin Kaepernick National Anthem Protest

<h2 class="p1"><span class="s1"><strong><a href="http://projectcasting.com/tag/netflix/">Netflix’s</a> <a href="http://projectcasting.com/tag/colin-in-black-and-white/"><i>Colin in Black &amp; White </i></a></strong>is now casting and hiring actors.</span></h2>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">The drama series from Colin Kaepernick and Ava DuVernay is now filming in Brooklyn, New York, and will center around the NFL football star Colin Kaepernick. The limited series focuses on Kaepernick as a child and how it informed his activism and professional football career.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">The upcoming Netflix limited-series is directed by Ava DuVernay and stars football star Colin Kaepernick. </span></p>

<h3 class="p1"><span class="s1">Cast:</span></h3>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">The upcoming Netflix series will star Colin Kaepernick, Mary-Louis Parker (<i>Weeds), </i>and Nick Offerman (<i>Parks and Recreation). </i>Louis-Parker and Offerman will play Teresa and Rick Kaepernick, the adoptive parents of Colin Kaepernick, whose life changes in this upcoming coming-of-age drama. The star’s role as Colin’s parents will show them navigating the challenges of raising a Black son in a predominately white community and family.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Actor Jaden Michael will play a young version of Colin Kaepernick. Kaepernick will voice narrate his own story over six episodes.</span></p>

<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Colin Kaepernick, born November 3, 1987, is an American civil rights activist and football quarterback. He played six seasons for the San Francisco 49ers in the NFL. As a political activist, he knelt during the national anthem at the start of NFL games in protest of racial inequality and police brutality in America.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Kaepernick played college football for the Nevada Wolf Pack. He was named the Western Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year twice and became the only player in the NCAA Division 1 FBS history to reach 10,000 passing yards and 4,000 rushing yards in a career. In the 2011 NFL Draft, he was selected by the 49ers in the second round. Kaepernick started his career as a backup quarterback to Alex Smith and became the starter in the middle of the 2012 season after Smith suffered a concussion. He remained the quarterback and took the team to their first Super Bowl appearance since 1994. Over the next three seasons, Kaepernick lost and won his starting job.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">In the third preseason game in 2016, Kaepernick sat during the U.S. National Anthem before the game, rather than standing, to protest police brutality and systematic oppression. The protest became controversial across the country, with sides agree and disagreeing with him. The actions resulted in a wider protest movement, which intensified in September 2017 after President Donald Trump said NFL owners should “fire” players who protest the national anthem. </span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">After the season, Kaepernick became a free agent and remained unsigned, which numerous sports analysts have attributed to his political beliefs. In November 2017, he filed a grievance against the NFL and its owners, accusing them of colluding to keep him out of the league. He would later withdraw the grievance after reaching a confidential settlement with the NFL. His protests received new attention in 2020 after the killing of George Floyd. But as of December 2020, he remains unsigned by any professional football team.</span></p>

How to Get Cast in Netflix's 'Colin in Black & White'

<h2 class="p1"><strong><a href="https://www.projectcasting.com/tag/colin-kaepernick/">Colin Kaepernick</a></strong> signs a first-look overall deal with <strong><a href="https://www.projectcasting.com/blog/tag/disney/">Disney</a></strong> through his Ra Vision Media company.</h2>
<p class="p1">According to <a href="https://deadline.com/2020/07/colin-kaepernick-inks-overall-first-look-deal-with-disney-includes-espn-films-docuseries-on-his-life-1202978314/">reports</a>, the partnership will focus on content that discusses race, social justice, and equality. It will become a platform for Black and Brown directors and producers to create.</p>
<p class="p3"><span class="s1">Disney explains the deal will include all platforms including </span><span class="s2">Walt Disney Television, ESPN, Hulu, Pixar, and ESPN’s The Undefeated. At this time, the first project in development is a docuseries produced by ESPN Films centering around Kaepernick’s life. Using interviews, unseen footage, and stories that detail his experiences over the last five years from Kaepernicks’ point of view. Libby Geist, Kevin Merida, and Connor Schell will executive produce for ESPN. In addition, Jemele Hill will also produce the project.</span></p>
<p class="p5"><span class="s3">“I am excited to announce this historic partnership with Disney across all of its platforms to elevate Black and Brown directors, creators, storytellers, and producers, and to inspire the youth with compelling and authentic perspectives,” said Kaepernick. “I look forward to sharing the docuseries on my life story, in addition to many other culturally impactful projects we are developing.”</span></p>

Colin Kaepernick Signs Major Deal with Disney

<h2><a href="https://www.projectcasting.com/blog/tag/neflix/">Netflix</a> announced 'Colin in Black &amp; White' a new series centering around the life of NFL players and political Civil Rights activist Colin Kaepernick.</h2>
<h3>The new series is produced by Emmy Award Winner and Academy Award nominee <a href="https://www.projectcasting.com/blog/tag/ava-duvernay/">Ava DuVernay</a>.</h3>
According to Netflix, the official synopsis is as follows: “The six-episode series, which was conceived in 2019 and recently completed writing in May, provides an introspective look at Kaepernick’s early life as a Black child growing up with a white adopted family and his journey to becoming a great quarterback while defining his identity. The limited series reunites Starrbury and DuVernay who last worked together on Netflix’s acclaimed <em>When They See Us</em>, which received 16 Emmy Award Nominations, including a nomination for Outstanding Writing for the duo and was recently honored with a Peabody Award. “

“With his act of protest, Colin Kaepernick ignited a national conversation about race and justice with far-reaching consequences for football, culture and for him, personally,” said DuVernay in a statement. “Colin’s story has much to say about identity, sports and the enduring spirit of protest and resilience. I couldn’t be happier than to tell this story with the team at Netflix.” Kaepernick also commented: “Too often we see race and Black stories portrayed through a white lens. We seek to give new perspective to the differing realities that Black people face. We explore the racial conflicts I faced as an adopted Black man in a white community, during my high school years. It’s an honor to bring these stories to life in collaboration with Ava for the world to see.”

There is currently no official release date from Netflix.

Colin Kaepernick played six seasons for the San Francisco 49ers in the NFL. As a political activist, he kneed during the national anthem in protest of police brutality and racial inequality in America. The actions resulted in a wider protest movement, which intensified in 2017 after President Donald Trump said the NFL owners should "fire" players who protest the anthem. Kaepernick would become a free agent after the season, but no team would sign him. According to stats provided by FiveThirtyEight, "it’s obvious Kaepernick is being frozen out for his political opinions", calling it "extraordinary ... that a player like him can’t find a team", based on the observation that "no above-average quarterback [measured by the total quarterback rating] has been unemployed nearly as long as Kaepernick this offseason." In November 107, he filed a complaint against the NFL, accusing them of colluding to keep him out of the NFL. Kaepernick withdrew the grievance in February 2019 after reaching a confidential settlement with the NFL. More recently, his protest are praised in 2020 amid the George Floyd protests, the growing Black Lives Matter movement, and the campaign against police brutality and racism

<p class="p1">Imagine Impact from Ron Howard and Brian Grazer’s production company, is looking for submissions as part of their deal with Netflix. The open submissions are looking to identify and help develop feature film ideas in four different genres, over the next year. The first four genre-specific application windows open Wednesday. The first round of projects is considered “large scale action-adventure movies for all audiences.” Applications will be accepted now until July 6th.</p>

Netflix Announces Colin Kaepernick Series Coming Soon

<p class="p1">Colin Kaepernick’s collusion lawsuit against the National Football League was reportedly withdrawn on Friday, lugging a settlement was reached between the football league and the quarterback who claimed NFL teams blackballed him out of the league.</p>
<p class="p1">Yahoo Sports reported on Friday Kaepernick’s collusion lawsuit was withdrawn,<span class="Apple-converted-space">  </span>noting the football quarterback had previously noted he would not do that unless the two parties reached a settlement.</p>
<p class="p1">Shortly after the report, the legal team representing Kaepernick and Eric Reid released a statement saying a settlement had been reached with a confidentiality agreement. The announcement likely means that Kaepernick and Reid will get a substantial bit of money in exchange for them dropping their case. Kaepernick has been out of the league for two years now after starting a nonviolent protest against police brutality during the 2016 season. The drama from that protest has affected the league, and Kaepernick has not been able to find a job in the NFL since then.</p>
<p class="p1">It is important to note; this news comes the same day as Kaepernick wanted as much as $20 million to play in the startup football league the AAF.</p>

Colin Kaepernick Settled His Collusion Lawsuit With The NFL (REPORT)

<p class="p1">Colin Kaepernick, the former NFL quarterback who has not been on a team for almost a year, is being sought by a major casting director for an upcoming production.</p>
<p class="p3"><span class="s1">The director, who TMZ did not name in the report, is currently working on a TV pilot as well as the “Uncle Drew” movie, which will feature Kyrie Irving as his Pepsi-commercial, basketball-loving, senior citizen character.</span></p>
<p class="p3"><span class="s1">The <a href="https://www.projectcasting.com/tag/uncle-drew/"><i>Uncle Drew </i></a>movie may be a great fit for the athlete. The movie filmed in Atlanta and is an obvious fit for Kaepernick and has already featured appearances from top athletes such as Shaq, Reggie Miller, Chris Webber and Lisa Leslie.</span></p>
<p class="p5"><span class="s1">Three years ago, Kaepernick signed a six-year, $126 million extension with San Francisco after taking the Niners to the Super Bowl.</span></p>
<p class="p5"><span class="s1">He opted out of the deal in March, after making headlines for being the first NFL player to kneel during the national anthem, a non-violent form of protest that has swept through the league ever since.</span></p>
<p class="p5"><span class="s1">If Kaepernick does get the role he is being sought for, it would be his first role on the small or big screen.</span></p>
