Will Smith makes a short appearance in the new Independence Day 2 movie trailer.
The great thing about a sequel to a 20-year-old action movie is that the expectations are never really that high. And while people are excited for the new Independence Day movie, many people are afraid it's not going to live up to the original especially without Will Smith.
Jeff Goldblum is back as a scientist David Levinson, Bill Pullman returns as ex-president Thomas J. Whitmore and Jesse Usher will play the part of Steven Hiller's (Will Smith) stepson.
Unfortunately, Smith himself didn't film any scenes for the movie, as his character was killed in the aftermath of the original movie while testing an alien fighter - apparently Will Smith didn't want to appear in the movie. But, if you pay close attention during the trailer, you can actually see a photo of Will Smith's character Steven Hiller at the 0:28 mark.
It's nice to see Resurgence will acknowledge the existence of the main character from the first movie.
Independence Day: Resurgence hits theaters on June 24th, 2016.
