Rejoice for The Passion of the Christ: Resurrection is set to start filming soon! After fifteen years after the release of its predecessor, we can anticipate news and announcements regarding this long-awaited sequel soon. A new report indicates when production will commence on this inspiring project.

According to World of Reel, the film’s shooting could be kicking off soon – perhaps even this spring. They wrote:

“It’s been a long time coming, but I’m hearing Mel Gibson will finally be shooting “The Passion of the Christ: Resurrection” in a few months. A late Spring production is currently being eyed with Jim Caviezel set to return in the role of Jesus.”

This is an exciting update! The highly-anticipated sequel, The Passion of the Christ: Resurrection, will start filming in spring. What a treat for fans—Jim Caviezel is reprising his role as Jesus from the original film. That certainly adds to this movie’s appeal and nostalgic charm.

While we should take these updates with caution, the new sequel appears to have been in development for some time. If they start shooting this year, it will likely follow through and hit theaters in 2024 – precisely 20 years after its predecessor first appeared on the screen.

Mel Gibson, who had a hand in crafting the screenplay of Braveheart with Randall Wallace, is set to direct the film. Six drafts have already been written and revised for this project. So far, we know that this storyline revolves around:

“‘Resurrection‘ would focus on the twenty-four hours encompassing Jesus’ passion and the events that occurred three days between his crucifixion and resurrection.”

We eagerly await more information about The Passion of the Christ: Resurrection.
